Legion isn't so bad (for me) leveling toons

In recent weeks I’ve spent a lot of time leveling toons up for the heritage armor.

Leveling 20-50 isnt so bad…it’s repetitive content after 15 years of playing, but it goes by fairly quickly, especially with warmode on.

50 - 80 bites. Outland or Northrend… I usually do the one I haven’t done recently, just to mix it up. On my Void Elf I even went underwater for a change of pace

90 - 100 - Pandaria or WoD…usually…I focus on 3 zones and get’er done.

100 - 110 - Legion - I always FIND myself getting caught up in professions, or yes (sheepishly) going after all 3 weapon artifacts when I don’t have to, or getting caught up in fun, quick side-quests (like the genie in the bottle for rogues).

Time and time again I have leveled ALTS and Legion is the one place I forget I am leveling sometimes and actually have fun doing lots of different things.

BFA lost a lot of the “little extras” Legion had. I was glad to lose all the Fel Green everywhere, for sure (BFA is pretty), but I have to say, I feel that BFA is lacking the diversity that Legion had. I actually enjoy leveling from 100 - 110. That’s different, huh?

What do you think?

Everything that was new in BFA (islands, warfronts, etc.) was nearly universally hated. Everything that was carried over from Legion (mission table, WQ’s, etc), was knocked down a notch. I am really curious what discussions took place at Blizzard that landed us where we are today.

I don’t hate BFA. I sometimes wonder if just because it’s new, it’s judge a bit harshly and then we look back with “oh, it wasn’t that bad…”

And I do realize from my original post that Legion has been around for less time than the other expansions - so it stand to reason that Legion just doesn’t feel as “old” yet.

But even with that acknowledgment, there is “something about Legion” that always felt a little more diverse, a little more free-ranging. Like I said, it’s the only expansion when I find myself going on tangents - because they’re fun - and then I remind myself - GIRL - get the heritage armor and move on…but, even though I enjoy BFA, it just doesn’t feel as “fun” as Legion was.

After thinking for a few moments… BFA feels more “linear”. Legion was more “self-directing” even though it had a path to follow. Legion did a better job with making the player feel “outside the box”.

In my younger years, I was a die-hard Ultima fan. Played every release from I to IX, and though that game had progression, it also had a lot of exploratory lee-way for players… Legion reminded me of Ultima.

i have a very fast method for leveling. it works for me quite nicely. i am leveling as a tank, so this works for the instant queue. if you are dps, it wont work quickly

20 to 35 - dungeon only.
35 to 61 - quest only. (obviously you can break this up how you want) 1.5 zones will get it done typically.
61 to 81 - dungeon only in LK dungeons. I have done northrend so many times. this is the slowest leveling area
81 to 91 - MOP questing with 2 or 3 dungeons. very fast. 1 full zone and starting of the next.
91 to 98 - wod opening area, garrison, bonus objectives in starter area and gorgrond. nothing else except if you happen on a treasure.
98 to 110 - legion quests only, no dungeons.

for quests i typically switch to dps, but most of i prefer tanking, even when questing so i can take on 6 enemies at once

How long does it take you to get to level 120?

Thats why ppl concern about bfa have nothing to do. Problem is contend noone do because is terrible.

I know that answer: Ok bois, new expansion, delete everything good from other ones and make whatever the f* for players, they want class design, do not give them that lol

A day or two - depending on my schedule. The thinking behind your question?

I just wanted to get a rough idea on how long it takes people to level from 1 to 120.

It’s pretty quick in BFA - I think the longest it took me was 4 days…but then… you know… life happens

BY the way? I think the pink-pig-tailed gnomes are the best! If I ever choose a gnome, I aspire your good looks!

Thanks man! I see pink-tailed gnomes A LOT and they look really cool haha :D.

I just got my KT to 110… I struggled really, really hard going through all of that content. I did a velf earlier on, but seriously I’m not going to be able to level any more characters. I’ve been through all of that about 20+ times up through legion. Thankfully the next heritage I want is the gnome, but that is just getting through revered rep…

But leveling any more characters… not a chance.

Having been back around 10 months now, after being away for almost 8 years, I’d have to say the leveling is in a good spot. When I came back it wasn’t bad but then we got a xp nerf and dungeon xp nerf and it sucked to level. They have slowly given back some xp and now it doesn’t feel as bad as it did. I still don’t do dungeons because of that dungeon xp nerf though.

I hear you - it does get incredibly tedious after a while!

Leveling is no where the chore it used to be.

1-60 is actually relaxing for me. Like strolling through an old stretch of woods I haven’t been to in years.

70-90 is fairly easy as well and I love that we can chose to skip entire expansions. I have guys that are doing 60-80 in BC and others doing it in WotLK. Same with pandaria and cata.

90-100 is a joke. Download handy, hmm. Don’t remember the full name, but it shows you where all the treasure is. Once you establish your garrison you basically can just do a few quests, gobble up treasure and then do the pop up quests and get to 100 w/o any effort.

100-110 is likewise as easy. Between the class halls, and overall campaign I can get get to 110 again without any difficulty. I am on my 6th guy going through Legion and I have had very few repeats quest wise.

I find BfA to be more enjoyable than Legion questing. I cannot go back to the legion zones on a level 100 without getting sick.

so you’re the one

LOL. I just may be, I guess! But given some of the responses, others seem to think BFA is better than a spoonful of castor oil

hey when i need a good bm castor oil is just what the doctor ordered!

but in all seriousness grind out that heritage armor

i think its time well spent if you like those mogs

it’s certainly more fulfilling than playing BFA

my .02 copper ofc
