Just recently I began doing in-depth exploration of the Broken Isles with Inky Black Potion in effect, and it has been glorious. I thought Draenor was the biggest top dog in regard to how much I enjoy the looks of the place. It still is at the tops, but not as much as it was.
Go to Lunarwing Shallows with IBP on. Also the Furbolg villages. Azsuna, Suramar, Highmountain, Val’sharah, and most of all, Stormheim. Beautiful places worth revisiting.
Obviously, they even say that they surpassed what WotLK was, which is sometimes overrated, but not as much as MoP.
Legion took the step forward for the evolution of WoW, until now, an evolution that Blizzard ridiculously retracted for becoming more vanilla-style, and it failed.
There were a lot of things in the case of gameplay and lore, and it really stood there as the highest peak in WoW development that the last 3 expansions did nothing to represent as an MMO advancement and only stagnated in a cringe disaster in different systems depending on each patch that appeared after Legion.
Yeah people look at Legion through rose tinted glasses big time. The ap grind with diminishing returns, completely spec locked for no valid reason, the rng legendries (luckily I got a good 1 and a decent one for my first 2). Raiding The Nighthold, where you needed specific legendaries/trinkets to be even remotely competitive. Lets not forget about titan forging lol.
Legion was only good for the last tier. The rest just sorta always felt bad, for reasons that the game imposed upon everyone that was progressing.
Did people forget the undertuned hot mess EN and the overturned mess HOV was? Nighthold was the first raid they got balance right. I would also like to point out a major criticism of forums is last boss of raid/expansion being someone with no lore or build up. The last boss of legion was something we didn’t know existed till the last patch and we never saw or heard from till the fight itself.
Legion was the best but it was INSANELY packed with content, each class had an order hall, with alot of quest and while some over lapped every class still felt important, and had purpose. the world was loaded with things to do and the content was a good pace, even the artifact weapons where awesome and it gave us the fantasy we always wanted, just jam packed with good things, good npcs, moments, quotes, dungeons, raids, class halls and things to do.
…And then we go sit ontop of a troll temple that, I am just saying a troll in the jungle heat must not smell the best so that must have been an experience. oh oh oh oh also this one:
BFA question:
players: “So its old gods?”
Blizzard/ion: “LOL no its not old gods…”
Last patch: “LOL yeah its old gods…”
MoP had the OQ addon. One of the greatest addons ever created for this game. Pug raiding and content grouping was at an all-time high because of this addon, so that alone puts MoP ahead of every other expansion.
Aside from my BC which was my favorite because I had so much more time and at the time enjoyed the progression of farming normal then unlocking heroic and the attunements (wouldn’t do that now for sure though), MoP was my next favorite. BrM tank was awesome, the healing of MW was the best I recall and the zones were magnificent. The first time we had guilds standing at spawn points for Sha because he wasn’t open world tag, was actually exhilarating. The dungeon and raids were all fun. The intro for AoTC was during this time iirc and Mythic Seige of Org became a thing. I can say with utmost certainty that when this comes to classic, I will be taking a break from Retail to progress all over again there.
Sorry for any autocorrect or typos, sending from my mobile and no way I’m proofreading on a phone.
Pretty much the same for me, the last time I remember logging in every day “religiously” was back in the Vanilla/TBC era
I played a ton of BFA too, but that was “artificial” to be honest due to the year 2020 being a thing - I’ve often wondered if I would’ve played it nearly as much if 2020 had never happened, since it was fairly average compared to Legion
legion was fantastic but being a clothy at the beginning had its challenges. believe it or not, after alot of testing on my various alts, i found holy priest to be the easiest to quest with lol and thanks rexxar.
but legion is still the gift that keeps on giving due to hidden artifact appearances
