So the other day someone mentioned Rogues getting a Class Hall quest which gives a heap of gold. No idea what its called but its something I do want to check out.
Paladins can get a Glyph which changes their mount when they Divine Steed (I hate the fat elephant thing so I really need to look in to this).
Hunters can unlock special taming abilities.
Are there any other clever / neat things you can do if you go through the Class Hall questline and farm the rep (I assume there is a massive rep farm - there is always a massive rep farm) ?
God damn this just reminds me how much I loved that expansion and having any sort of class identity. They totally walked it back, people are once again learning one spec and calling it a day.
I loved doing the Paladin mount questline, having to train your pet and teach them new skills from other pets you tamed and having to keep an eye on their food, and running all over the world to be taught new Shaman totem spells.
There was actual character. But I assume people complained because some questlines were better than others, so they just removed them for everyone. Very sad.
It was a weekly for getting a certain amount of pick pocket items, I think it awarded 10k gold. I believed they nerfed it to only like a 100 gold with BFA though. It’s not viable to make money with.
I remember stealthing around and picking lockboxes to train, and I used to have an Addon where I would Pick Pocket before Backstabbing. I probably should look in to that again.
Im sure I had other neat tricks if I cast my mind back.
I guess I was conflating two issues within class design. I guess I just miss feeling unique in the role that I’m playing. The “class fantasy” as a lot of designers put it.
As in I’m beginning to not see why we don’t roll a spec instead of a class.
i do agree with you joking aside that what made legion special wasn’t the mission table or any of the legendary mechanics BUT the one thing they didn’t take into any of the expansions later down the road: classes felt special and unique… however I think there’s an issue blizz would run into if they kept the order halls going: what do you do after you collect all the sacred weapons/artifacts of the class? I’m not sure the order halls would have been able to continue to be sustained after all they put in legion.
As for the Class Hall, they could have had a portal between the Class Hall and the Garrison, and added minor things each expansion and each patch within expansions.
The problem is game designers always want to do brand new things, and with personnel changes, the new guys always want to put their mark on the game, so they are going to do their thing, not update some other guy’s thing.
But why are the senior producers okay with throwing away the old stuff which people actually like?
As a paladin, I used the portal from Legion Dalaran to the Plaguelands during Winter’s Veil. Seemed quicker than trying to taxi from Ironforge to Aerie Peak to the Greench’s lair.
Ugh. The Monk class hall trick is never doing your class hall.
Zen Pilgrimage, before Legion, took you to the Peak of Serenity, a nice, simple little room in Pandaria with a portal to your faction capitol 5 steps away. While levelling, the class trainer there even provides you with a bonus to rested EXP.
When you start the class hall quests, ZP soon gets changed so that it instead sends you to the class hall (only way to get to the class hall btw), which 1. is instanced, 2. has next-to-nothing of interest outside of the campaign, 3. is arguably uglier than the Peak of Serenity, and 4. removes your access to that easy port to the capitol. Instead, you have to run down the stairs, go to Legion Dalaran, fly across the city, and then go into the portal to the capitol.
I mainly played my Paladin and Shaman during Legion, and by the time I went back to level my Monk, BfA had already come, so I completely skipped Legion questing. I never should have gone back to it. The artifact mogs weren’t worth losing the easy SW port.
From the preach interview, WOD-SL was designed to all be thrown away system wise. it does suck majorly for that reason. but i do 100% agree with you on everything else.
I play all 3 warlock specs.
Theyre all good fun. (Destro isnt as fun. But it is efficient)
I would enjoy the game a lot less without that.
The main thing stopping me with other classes is that unlike warlocks, most classes need different gear for each spec.
At that point its just a hassle.
The gold is nothing like it used to be. It was indeed heaps of gold and something that I always did. The only other thing I’d use is the mage portals. Those are handy.
Last time I checked it was still for 2.5k gold but it’s been awhile.
Rogues can also use the command table to acquire keys for the Isle of Thunder treasure scenario where you can get up to 400 gold for 5 minutes of work. I still do that. And it’s a port to the island if you need it.
I use my Garrison Hearthstone all the time to get an extra portal to SW. I did the Class Hall on this Hunter and on my Paladin, but I think I skipped it on my Rogue. I probably should have used the Rogue more if there were huge gold rewards.
That said, I make enough in the game to never pay my monthly fee and buy a few Battle Pets from time to time so I probably dont need more hours playing just to farm.
