So from my understanding the only way to get rare artifacts is to be on the weekly, does this mean I should not loot the quest items until I get some rare sets? I was bored the other night and I leveled it from 1 to over 600 and didn’t get 1 single rare set they were all commons. Is this how it really is?
Legion archaeology can be separated into two different objectives. There is the rotating quest that yields a reward after finding enough quest items and completing a short quest. This can be relatively quick or a bit time consuming depending on which quest is currently active. This one you can complete as soon as you like so long as it is completed before the two week period ends and the quest rotates to a new one.
The second objective, if you really like archaeology, would be collecting a pristine of each artifact. This is just pure RNG grind. These are only limited by which type of artifacts (demonic, highborne, or highmountain tauren) and how much time you want to spend gathering fragments for that week. You do not have to be on the weekly quest to make progress on this objective.
