Legendary Items as Random Drops are bad

Can I just say that random legendary drops suck and I hope they move away from them in the future. One of the main healers in my guild is an Evoker, he never got his legendary to drop. According to his armory he has 4 LFR, 7 normal and 10 heroic Sarkareth kills. We see people on their alts getting it and he has never gotten it. At this point it has become a meme that it doesn’t drop for him.

That is all.

There was nothing wrong with questlines like Shadowmourne, Fangs and Dragonwrath. Why they don’t go back to that model is beyond me.

Even if they made it with a 90% chance to drop, there will still be someone that doesn’t get it. So dumb.

I’m not sure what you’re referring to here. I said questline not random drop. :dracthyr_shrug:

I have the evoker legendary and I hate it being based off drop chance.

Like, let me pick up a small quest that takes a bit to do etc like the MOP cloaks etc.

Legendaries should be like the Scepter of the Shifting Sands quest.
That was done right.

I was agreeing with you, sorry, if I was not clear. I was just saying that there is nothing they can do to make random legendary drops good.

Except the balance problems of only some specs having a legendary at all. Is the class/spec going to be OP with the legendary, or trash without it? Unless the legendary is going to have negligible effect on performance (then what is the point), you HAVE to choose one.

The least bad legendary model is MoP/WoD. SL’s could have been decent without the Torghast grind and crafters needing to make 100 very expensive items no one needs to rank up. Weapons are way too high-impact a slot to have some people using a legendary and others with only an epic (either within OR between classes/specs).

The only way to have awesome weapons that don’t break balance is to build the entire expansion around them, i.e. artifacts. There’s like a 5% chance that there will eventually be a “retrieve your depowered artifact and re-empower it” expansion and otherwise it will never happen again because they already used all the big lore ones like Ashbringer and (sorta) Frostmourne.

Otherwise, legendary weapons need to stay in single-player games.

You mean like the rare drop bow and the rare drop Evoker weapon?

All major legendaries have been for only certain classes or specs. There’s nothing wrong with that.

I think we need to go back to long major questlines like Sen said and maybe designing multiple legendaries. Gw2 did it and it was great tbh. :cloud_with_rain:

It’s better than limited time only requirements that ruins the stories like what Mists and WoD did as well as terrible legion legendaries that are bad as well.

I honestly prefer the old classics of Legendaries being in Questchains and drops that last forever.

i think the two you listed idk about the fangs
but you need to run the raids for weeks to get one build

I feel like both the Evoker and the Hunter Legendary seemed fine, since it seemed like the class was balanced around having the legendary. It isn’t like Hunters were topping DPS meters even with the legendary.

The new 2-hand legendary in 10.2 the devs seem to have hinted at a questline for it in the video WoW posted.

I miss when legendaries were truly rare. Even the best epic items were super rare and when you got a drop that lead to one, such as Battered Hilt in Wrath, you were either on your way to building a very exclusive item, or you had just won the AH lotto and didn’t have to worry about gold for the rest of the expansion.

Then in Shadowlands we’re all walking around with bags full of legendaries and now we can’t ever go back because we’ve come to expect easy access to them.

Except when some specs never get one.

the original method for obtaining Legos is the only way they should be implemented, several super low chances drops with a long a$$ questline.
Hand-out legos suck balls.

random chance is terrible, as you might have seen in early legion the drop rate was abyssmal and quite a few people felt like they had no choice but to re-roll if they got a bad lego for their spec because of the astronomically low chance of obtaining one. if it’s a significant power increase, just leave it in the hands of players in either questlines or via crafting like in shadowlands.
