Legendary Axe Is Damaging to the community, plz fix

I have read and try to find people who are also frustrated by the absolute depressing legendary drop design. And tried to vent some of my own frustration of the loot system. And every forum I read was just full of people bullying the poster for being cry baby. Its absolutely disgusting behavior.

This needs to stop blizzard, you have created a system that’s causing depression and bullying. This system is arguably worse than the legion system as this is hard time gated by weekly boss kill.

In addition to the legendary. Your general loot system is terrible over all. Everyone is geared too quickly except there are a few trinkets everyone wants, and its completely up to RNG. And since people out gear the content, too many people just run their alts after only a couple of weeks and I end up loosing the trinkets week after week to people’s 2nd and 3rd alts. Which means I end up also playing my alts whiles waiting for weekly reset for the trinkets lottery. I know you don’t want master loot but at least let us have the coins back so we can actually have increased chances on our mains by investing in more time on it to farm the coins.

Finally this is just a side note, there seemed to be something wrong with the weekly vault. Its really bad, my rogue had to take coins on week 1, and my main pally still has 483 weapons cos the weapon loot just wont drop? and somehow I got the same neck drop for 3 weeks in a row and another neck 2 weeks in a row. Might want to take a look at whats going on with the vault bliz.

Nothing is wrong with the vault, other than every week you’re getting RNG against your interests.

I’ve had 2x 489 DTs for 6? weeks yet my vault keeps spitting more myth track weapons at me every week. But I’ve never seen the Fall trinket, I never see Tainted Rageheart, or myth track tier pieces from my vault, so I’m stuck with mostly 483s.

Just RNG being RNG.

the community needs to learn that they can’t have everything they want. That’s life.

it IS a very nice axe though. the proc pulling you to the target is awesome.

Wait. Complaining about 483 weapons? I’m still using a 483 weapon and spent 4~ weeks just getting coins on my main because they kept trying to give me more rings and crafting a 486 weapon would be a downgrade.

Vault RNG is always that way, some are blessed to get everything they want early and spend later weeks getting coins, while the not-so-blessed are getting coins early and hoping to get what they need later.

Outright admitting to confirmation bias. Interesting start…

Yep, absolutely no bias in your exaggerated retelling I bet.

Oh Light, there are more paragraphs after this one; I just can’t.

Flag and move on, folks.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: Personally, I think it should’ve just been a questline like Shadowmourne. :person_shrugging:

Would’ve still been hard to strive for, yet just & fair – equally opportunistic for all, and rewarding for the few of those masses that strive to actually make the efforts to complete the feats of achieving the weapon.

I’m sure the LFR crowd would voice their… concerns… because I doubt Blizzard would allow you to do the quest line on LFR. You couldn’t for the rogue legendaries iirc. And LFR came out with Dragon Soul.

It is also why you could only do shadowmourne on 25 man normal or heroic. So one would wonder if you could do it on current normal mode if Fyr’alath was a quest line in the vein of Shadowmourne and not Thunderfury as well. Where you have to get an extremely rare drop(s) off a boss in the raid in order to begin the quest line to get the legendary.

No no. The “bullying” is because of all the entitled whining. Not because of blizzard’s system. Rare drops are nothing new. But for some reason this time around a bunch of toddlers have decided it’s a particular affront to them personally.

It was a problem all the way back in Legion. RNG legendaries are simply bad design. And yes, I also mean the glaives too. All of the RNG legendaries. Every single one. Terrible design in the way you acquire them. Questlines are how it should have been, and while it seems dauting or whatever, it gives everyone a fair chance to actually get the stupid things. RNG does not. Don’t wanna do the quest for whatever reason? Then don’t. But hoping and praying every time you kill a boss that RNGeesus is on your side, only to be shown that the chance of you getting anything is nil? Nah. That’s bad. It’s not rewarding. It’s not enjoyable. 4-6 week long quest chain. Wouldn’t be hard. Should of been how it was done.

Honestly, I’d still find that far better than extremely slim chances of getting it on any difficulty. :person_shrugging:

At the very least, they could make it at various points in the questline that LFR drops less of X items you require – so that way it inspires people to do the questline on higher difficulties to complete the questline quicker.

… As for any argument to the rest of the LFR crowds still voicing concerns – I’d argue that those who push beyond LFR would also voice their concerns against keeping it at the current system it is, merely to satisfy the LFR crowds needs alone. :grimacing:

Think they need to go back to legendary items starting from a quest line you get at the start of a raid rather than BS RNG into a gold sink to maybe get the weapon being usable. There I chipped in my two cents on the topic, I’ll see myself out. Have a nice day all

So you want significantly less people to have the axe by going that route?

I’m sure there’s handfuls of misfortunate others who could argue the very opposite. :person_shrugging:
— Plus at least you have some sense of control or reward for efforts to ‘that route’ than simple RNG.

The axe is more easy to get than past weapon legendaries, such as hand of rag.

The difference is that the WoW community is now different. People now expect to be able to acquire max DPS without RNG. When they realise it’s RNG they come to the forums.

The irony is that at the same time you have threads on the forums by people saying old WoW was less difficult than modern WoW.

The problem isn’t the axe, it’s people’s expectations of modern WoW, and a lack of experience and understanding of how legendary weapons worked in the past.

This.

Except those quests dropped the items and you had to funnel them to who the guild deemed worthy of the legendary for 2.5 months just to make a single one.

And was virtually impossible to from pugging.

That is how the quest system kept rarity without RNG.

Is that what the players want?

Do not take this as I enjoy recieving bad RNG or guild members trading raid loot to non-guild members when guild members need it.

The most desirable loot seems the hardest to get, making having these sought after items MORE desirable.

Bad RNG + low drop chances of what you seek and the vault not prioritizing what would benefit players is all feeding into these “feels bad” moments for pve.

My solution has been, do not participate in pve gearing
Instead I pvp where gear acquisition is easy, getting what you want is easy, getting duplicate slot gear with different stats for alternate stat builds is easy. The content is the combat, instead of the gearing.

I have not had an interest in joining my guild in raid to get the lego axe because

  1. I dont want to lose rolls on what I need to non-guild member “guests”.
  2. I dont want to lose rolls to the other dozen strength players in the raid that are guild members.
  3. I dont benefit much if at all equiping a non-versatility weapon for pvp and if my lego channel was stopped early from a fear, knockback, mind control or any other crowd control nonsense Id probably yeet my PC out the window.(and the lego isnt even strong for pvp thank GOD).
  4. Only recently was my spec made more competitive on the damage meters. I already was not raiding due to Ret being between last and 5th from last in raid performance prior to the very recent buffs, reguardless of lego drop rates or additional time and gold to equip it.

With today’s version of WoW? Sure.

  • It’d still be far easier than the days of Shadowmourne.
  • It doesn’t have to be EXACTLY like the Shadowmourne questline, but having a sense of control would still be more ideal.
  • Meeting in the middle of the two ideas. Having it easy to pick up yet hard to earn and achievably doable would be great.
