I’ve been looking for a couple of things when it comes to the crafted legendaries.
Were do you find the legendary drop?
What equipment slot can the legendary be?
Use the above link (locations) to find the item and then click the link that should tell you what slots it can be used in, in the item description. It does not list them on the spell which is the first thing google brings up when searching.
What the Base Items are called.
Are there multiple ranks of the missives?
It seems as if there will only be a single missive rank. The missive determines what stat is allocated to the item but does not determine how much of that stat. That is instead determined by ilvl.
When you upgrade a legendary from rank 1 to rank 2 do you need to buy a new base item?
To upgrade a Legendary, you need the following:
The only cost for crafting a Legendary early and upgrading it later is the Gold or material cost of obtaining the Base Crafting Item. Each additional step that you craft will cost you an additional Base Item from a crafter.
If anyone has additional questions I’ll try to find the answers to them.

Im still confused.
So, can I SEE a legendary?
Meaning, as of this moment, it seems by description, that these “legendaries” are simply “enchants” or “armor kits” for existing armor?
Does the MOG change when I put one on my legs?
Ie. When I got Ashbringer, my sword LOOKED like Ashbringer… I didn’t simply put a “legendary weapon enchant” on an existing sword and it still looked like the existing sword…
Sorry Im confused.
Edit: ALSO, what happens when I get a leg drop that at its base, is better than the legs I dropped my legendary “patch” on?
From my understanding you buy a blank piece of gear that has different ilvel and can be any slot aside trinket.
You buy missives that give stats vers/haste etc. This I assume will be scalled to the ilvl of the previous blank slate item.
You then craft a lego trait on it to make a legendary with your choosen stats and ilvl gear.
The missives seem to scale with the gear. So a base item will have an allotment of secondary stats those are determined by the item level and the missives simply decide which secondary’s they are allotted to.
A base190 ilvl with a crit missive will have +23 Crit but a 210 base ilvl will allot +29 with the same missive (numbers are made up as I can’t check at them moment, they are merely to demonstrate.)
Then you would have to remake a new legendary. This would require a new base item as well as missives and Ash.
You can however upgrade an existing legendary by adding a higher base item to it.
And yeah legendaries are basically enchanting an item. I would have preferred a mini game that allowed for up to +5 ilvl increase or something while making your legendary or some other crafting interaction but it is what it is.

So do we know if the armor tokens that have been released are the only armor tokens. Or does the inevitable iLvl creep basically mean that I have to spend 135k per armor slot every major patch token upgrade? Because I’m not a gold farmer or particularly interested in gathering professions so I have no way of funding this.
I’m guessing every tier is going to introduce 3-4 more.
I want to say I also heard at some point you will be able to equip 2 of them so I can only image the cost. Knowing this though it might be a good idea to stock up on mats. Maybe join a farm group 1 hour per week.
Thank’s. I looked all over for this yesterday. I do have a question though. Can you change Missives when you upgrade an item. I’m not creating mine until next week, because I want to make certain BM will be okay in raids. If it is WAY underpowered, I will need to change to MM, and that means I will need a different stat priority.
It looks like at this time it is not possible to change missives once the legendary is made.
I think BM if if it is middle of the pack is the safer bet at the moment. MM simply does to much in to many parts of the game with enough people complaining, there is very little chance that its not going to see a nerf at some point. I main BM and to be honest its been doing very well. I only seem to get out played by rogues, kyrian warriors in low level content were they can execute 100% of the time and MM hunters.

Blizzard, can we please add an nice or something that can breakdown legendarys that you’ve already made for soul ash in return. Even if it’s like half the amount back. It sucks when you switch specs for progression in raid and can’t get even your first legendary in a week and you have other spec legendary. Obviously it’s my fault for not rolling the spec in the first place but still it was first weeks of the game who knew which spec was gonna be the dominate one. Idk I think it’ll help.

Is it possible to use the same missives and get double stats?
Unfortunately no. It has to be two unique missives.
it would be nice if you can change the legendary power and an item, at the cost of soul ash or maybe when you upgrade it… otherwise people who picked a “avg” starting lego b/c they werent able to get the main 1 they wanted yet due to blizzard gated stuff are stuck with it…

Hi,
Can someone clarify the way missive stats work for me? If I make a base level item, the stats gained from the missives will stay w/e they are (like my shoulders, the stats are 55crit/mastery) even after upgrading to 235. If I want higher secondary stats, would I need to make a new 235 shoulder with new missives?
The stats upgrade with the item you upgraded. No need to make a new one.
Thanks. I thought that is how it worked, but I’ve been wondering how people have higher missive stats on 235 items than what I have on my shoulders which is why I asked. I guess the amount of stats from the missives also has to do with the item slot. ie, a chest slot might give more than a shoulder.
Thanks again for the insight. I appreciate it.
