Legend of Elun'Ahir book at the Central Encampment *spoilers*

I absolutely love this little bit of lore. In case you haven’t seen it, it’s an open book on the table inside the tent. It talks about Elune giving Eonar the Branch of G’hanir, which became the first world tree. That alone has cool implications (why is Elune giving Eonar anything?), but also that later Aman’thul ripped it out outraged that Eonar planted a world tree that “wasn’t Order.”

I know there’s a lot of talk in the town from Pyromancer and Nobbel about Order and its tyranny, and lately it seems even more that the Light and Order is diametrically opposed to Life, which is not under “Order” in cosmology.

But it got me curious about what it means for the dragonflights, now that they’re empowered by Amirdrassil and Life magic, as opposed to Order magic. Did that have to happen so that they can fight with us against the Order Titans? When they lost their powers in Cata, did the writers have this in mind? To get them out of the Order cosmo and into Life so they can stand with Azerothians?

I think the next expansion could be one of my favorites if the story doesn’t go catawampus. My favorite stories are typically geopolitical, but I also enjoy a good plot twist. And with the Dragonflights now seemingly being in the domain of Life, with the titan’s secrets being exposed, with Turalyon sitting on the throne… it seems like all the pieces are in place for something wild. GEEKED

Aman’thul, The First One was aligned with Order so perhaps he manipulated the rest of the pantheons to also be aligned with Order just like him. But nature always finds a way, so the forces of Life always had gravitational pull towards Eonar, because Eonar was meant to be the Pantheon of Life, not Order. Sargeras was the first break free from the manipulation and follow his true calling, namely Disorder.

They were empowered by Azeroth, not the tree.

Azeroth used the tree as a conduit. They are empowered by Azeroth herself. Yet they all say it feels different than what the titans did. Which raises many questions.

This was brought up in Shadowlands by some NPC in Zereth Mortis. Life is connected to Void and Chaos. And is hinted at being the most “evil/destructive” of all the cosmic forces by various NPC’s.

That is an important discernment, I suppose. But I don’t yet know what Azeroth even is, and given it all took place within the Emerald Dream, and that the World Tree root system is what’s protecting Azeroth (5 torches), I’m comfortable guessing for now that Azeroth is a Life force!
Also, perhaps more crucially, we don’t know that they were empowered by Azeroth, do we? It is suspected, it was guessed, but that doesn’t mean our interpretation of the event was correct. Maybe we will find out later we were wrong, and they were empowered by the world tree system.
