Hi Blizzard Team,
I’d like to raise an issue regarding how personal loot rules are affecting legacy content, especially from Legion onwards, in a way that I believe was not intended and is negatively impacting collectors and transmog hunters.
Issue Summary:
When farming Legion and newer world content (e.g., rares, elite world quests, or old zone events) solo, the personal loot system filters drops based on your current class and spec. This results in a situation where:
Many items that are technically on a rare’s loot table never drop if your class cannot use them.
For example, as a Hunter, I cannot receive a staff drop from Legion rares, even if it is listed on their loot table, because Hunters can’t use staves.
This is particularly frustrating for transmog collectors or players farming appearances, as it makes entire categories of appearances unobtainable unless you level other classes.
Why This Seems Broken for Legacy Content:
Legacy content (i.e., older expansions like Legion and Battle for Azeroth) should not apply modern loot restrictions so strictly.
Before personal loot was enforced, legacy mobs dropped from their full loot table, allowing any item to drop regardless of your class.
This behavior is still preserved in pre-Legion content, but from Legion onward, this change has unintentionally broken legacy farming.
This contradicts the spirit of legacy farming, where players can go back and collect gear appearances freely without class/spec restrictions.
Suggested Fix or Request:
Please consider updating the loot rules for legacy content (e.g., Legion, Battle for Azeroth) so that:
When content is trivial (legacy content criteria met), the full loot table is active, similar to pre-Legion content.
Class-based loot filtering is disabled in legacy world content, allowing transmog collectors to farm all appearances.
This would greatly benefit collectors, roleplayers, and players who enjoy going back to complete their collections. It would also bring consistency to how legacy content behaves across expansions.
Thank you for your time and consideration!
