Hello,
I have been doing a lot of older content, like loremaster, old raid achievements and such. Something I came across recently confused me about raid lockouts.
I was recently doing Firelands raid for Cata and looked up the quest for the embers from caverns of time. One of the comments said… Do normal->reset->do heroic for the most embers each week.
I was like “What?!?!” I thought you could only do one difficulty of each raid a month. Well I tried it and it let me get loot from all bosses on each difficulty. I am so confused.
Is it like this with every legacy raid that has multiple difficulties? Or is it just Cata raids?
I tried VoA from WotLK but I couldn’t do both 25 man and 10 man. So I have no clue what this sort of lockout applies too.
Can someone please shed some light on this for me?
Thank you! Have a good day
you can do all difficulties of raids a week
You can do all raid difficulties once a week, everything resets each Tuesday at 11 EST as well.
Just not different sizes like 10 man vs 25 man?
Does this apply to DF as well?
Can I do Awakend LFR, Norm, Heroic and Mythic each week? (not that I do those difficulties but just curious lol)
Older raids (ex. Icecrown) you can only do once a week and it keeps vks you out in all difficulties.
ya DF can be done on multiple difficultiies
now I am even more confused, because I’m doing an older raid now and did both difficulties ?
Can I not do Normal and heroic Icecrown?..
Sorry guys I just never knew this and trying to understand.
So you can only do one difficulty of Icecrown and that is the only raid like that the rest are open?
okay so, firelands is the only one in cata that can be run on both difficulties per week.
then only from warlords onward you get to run multiple difficulties per week.

Icecrown is one of the raids that you can only do once a week and that’s it. Do heroic or normal then your lock out for both normal and heroic that week.

This is extra confusing because Blizzard has altered the logic on lockouts fairly often, sometimes retroactively sometimes not, and other times experimented for a tier before moving on with the next xpac. So you could google an answer that was accurate at some point but might not be accurate anymore.
I’m frankly not sure what rules some raids follow today without going back to find out.
ulduar is 10-25 merged I believe and hard mode is activated for certain bosses by doing certain things
ICC if you want the mount do 25 man heroic
If the raid has a timewalking equivalent then you can have a lockout per difficulty. This is true for Ulduar and Firelands. Probably Black Temple as well if it had other difficulties.
Ulduar doesn’t have separate difficulties either. Heroic raids weren’t a thing until ToC in the next patch.
But yeah, for some reason FL’s been able to be run on both difficulties ever since it was added as a timewalking raid. I guess Blizzard probably couldn’t figure out how to give it a separate loot lockout from the normal version without making both normal and heroic separate lockouts as well.
Bumping this,
Im confused. I did terrace of the endless Spring, i think it was set to mythic.
Then I tried to go back and do it on normal and heroic, tried 10 and 25. And when i enter they are all the same all the bosses dead and the skull forms on the instance portal.
Are we now allowed to do the Different N/H/M difficulties anymore in legacy raids ?
Just once and that is all ?
Regarding MoP, only Siege of Orgrimmar has mythic difficulty, and it’s the first raid that has separate lockouts for each difficulty as well.
Raids prior to that were kinda inconsistent with what was available between 10- and 25-man and normal/heroic difficulty, but for all of them you could only run them once per week regardless of raid size and difficulty.
There is no Mythic difficulty for that raid. The only raids that had Mythic difficulty were Siege of Orgrimmar and the ones that came after it.
thank you appreciate the responses
