Getting talent points starting at lvl 5 is pretty fun. What if we always did? And then Legacy Points, (since they supposedly take a long time to accumulate), gave us 2 extra talent points at lvl 57 and 60.
I do think you might be onto something. Getting talent points at level 5 really does feel amazing. But how many alts do you have to make before you even get that? I feel like I’d get the classes I have an interest into 60 and professions leveled before I fully unlocked the 5 early talent points.
So thinking about it, 4 extra talent points would be really cool at max level. And it would create a cool choice of character progression. Do you farm dungeons/honor or do you level another alt to get those extra max level talents? I really think that would push players out into the world with more alts more than anything else.
I know streamers are already crying, but idc.
However I do know that Blizzard has put a lot of thought into make it so hybrid specs can’t reach the big thresholds in two different specs. For instance Imagine a shockadin with access to Champion of the Light (and no trade offs). I don’t see how Blizz overcomes that without possible big imbalances in the game…
My feeling is that Talented should not be in the game at all. It’s too good to not invest 6-10 points into as soon as you have 6-10 points available, and basically nothing else comes close. It also has the problem of being completely useless at 60.
I think talents starting at Level 10 create the intended flowpath and pace of critical milestones for each class, and shouldn’t be messed with, but if they’re going to open that door then we should all just acknowledge that literally everyone is going to buy 5/5 Talented and then respec as soon as they hit 60, and that in itself is bad.
There are other perks that are just too good not to have, like 5/5 Diplomat is basically mandatory during attunement grinds, 5/5 For Great Honor is mandatory during ranking, Frequent Flier is kind of too good in general to not have at all times.
Yes. And after 6 or 9 or 12 months the legacy system could give a few extra talent points. It would open a lot of classes to different builds.
Disagree, you can respec them later on hence the circle with a slash. You don’t have to take the talents. Pick what you want. You’re making it sound as if it is already the meta, that argument can be made for any of those trees. “Its the meta to make gold!” “Its the meta to get exalted before 60!” Just leave it the way it is. It’s fun, it feels cool. And not everyone will take it.
Yeah it definitely feels like something that needs to grow over time to keep classes interesting.
I think being able to respec later makes Talented worse in that, yes, it is mandatory while leveling, and useless after that.
I feel like Blizzard’s data after giving people Legacy points is going to be pretty one-sided when it comes to what people chose.
It’s not mandatory, lol. Its a choice.
This thread makes me feel even more sure that “Talented” is broken and needs to be removed when I see people advocating for giving extra talent points since they are able to unlock them at level 5.
Also - one character leveled up is all you need to unlock the 5 talent points for the next character… assuming you just do like the regular stuff leveling. All the dungeons once, level a profession, explore the world, and boom that’s 10 points.
I mean, this is the same thing people say about talents that were just obviously better than every other talent. True, you don’t have to get it, your character is just worse than everyone else if you don’t. It’s pretty clear where Blizzard stands on cases like those historically.
Oh no, the chaos and insanity! Leveling ALTS will be slightly easier! Oh dear! Oh my! Oh Lord!
My main issue isn’t the power increase, it’s that it’s so good it’s hard to argue that you can spend those 10 points anywhere else. Hmm.. would I rather have 5% crit chance or 10% bonus rep?
You should be able to easily get 10 legacy talent points with your first 60. 3 for level 60, 3 for a maxed tradeskill, 3 for completing all the dungeons. That’s 9, and then getting your first alt to 25 will get you 10 (or getting that alt a profession to 150, which is very easy)
Bad idea imo. That would increase player power at level 60. I don’t think the legacy system should ever increase player power in raids
You know what else increases player power? End game gear. Should theyvstio handing that out?
I love having talent points since lvl 5, it makes the leveling much smoother, it’s super dumb to have 0 power from 1 to 10, and even in 10 1 point in 1 talent seems so underwhelming, no gameplay change, there’s no feeling of gaining power
they promised in blizzcon, horizontal progress,
Sooooo
yes
and other MMORPG does a “no power increase” for now many years really well
most player power atm comes from talents. Giving some classes an extra 4 talent points would be vertical power maxxing
Absolutely not. This is Classic + and must remain rooted in that!
It’s honestly just too good. It makes pretty much every other talent pointless until you have 5 points in it.
