I’m having an issue for more than a month but I had enough of this. This is making me miserable during Mythic dungeons: my left and right click on the mouse simply stop working randomly. I can’t take a bress, I can’t use a clickable item.
Reloading won’t fix it. I tried to disable all addons but no deal (video attached). The funny thing is: when I reload the mouse will work normally for like 2 seconds and then simply stop working (the clicks). I have to literally shut the game and log in again, but if I alt-tab I can normally use the right and left click on other programs, like chrome or anything else, but coming back to WoW, no deal.
I thought it was a mouse problem, changed the Logitech software I was using but no deal. Tried to insert another mouse (I use a G600) when the problem happened, a brand-new G403 that I basically never used and no deal, same problem.
Then I went to the addons, using this ‘technique’ of 2 seconds before it stop working I managed to disable ALL addons, but again, no deal as you seen on the video.
What a hell should I do? I can’t play like this anymore since I’m trying to get to higher keys and I can’t even RELEASE or ACCEPT a summon, neither use a jump start kit to revive a foe when this happens. Even though I have a M2 it’s not acceptable that I have to reboot the game every time this happens.
Also, it’s totally random as far as I can see. Sometimes it won’t happen, sometimes it will. I’m simply afraid of doing 20+ keys because I don’t want to screw up other people.
I tried googling some keywords but couldn’t find anyone with a similar problem that me. I’m just lost.
Hey Aleczk! Thank you for taking the time to reach out with those details as well as the video. This sort of interface behavior typically indicates that an addon is conflicting with the interface, but it can also be caused by corrupted local game files. To remedy this, we recommend resetting the User Interface back to defaults, and then retest. The instructions to reset the User Interface can be found here.
Note: If you are using an addon manager, you will need to uninstall them temporarily for this process to work. It’s also important to note that this process will return your game client to default settings. If you wish to keep any addons you play with, I recommend moving the ‘Interface’ folder to your desktop temporarily, before completing the reset. Once you have completed the UI reset, you can then go in and move your addons over to the new ‘Interface’ folder one at a time to see if it was causing the issue.
Well, I’m going to try it. Gonna be a pain since I always used ElvUI and I’m not used to the default interface. Anyway, I need a fix for this so I will try it.
I just used revo uninstaller to clean the PC from wow and installed it again. I have a backup of all my addons and character variables but for now I’ll try to play with as little addons I can.
I’ll reach you guys in a couple of days, probably.
Cheers,
What I have done so far:
Unninstalled Wow completely via Revo Uninstaller (and all leftovers) and did reinstall with battle.net.
Deleted all addons and auras that I wasn’t using frequently. (there were a LOT, even ones conflicting with each other like TomCats and HandyNotes)
Digged a bit into the reddit and found a thread with a similar but not equal problem, so I set the mouse raw input to 1. It solved the problem for some guys there.
Set the pooling rate of mouse to 125 (kinda annoying but I’ll get used to it).
Reinstalled ElvUI and it’s plugins but imported my old my profile.
If the problem persist I will do a /framestack to see if something shows up before digging deeper. I simply can’t play without ElvUI since I’m using since day 1 I started playing, so this is the next step in case it persist.
Also I forgot to mention that it only happens while I’m on an instance, like a dungeon, raid or major vision. I’ve done a few visions and a Mythic 16++. I pretend to do at least 10 Mythics 15~19 to be sure it is ok.
The problem being specific to instances does further implicate addons/UI files, so please do let us know if that does not work. I’m replying here to ensure that you are able to respond to the thread. The forums may not allow you to bump your own thread until someone else replies, depending upon your trust level. Feel free to leave the thread be until you either decide the problem has been fixed or you discover that you need more help. This will ensure that you can reply at that point.
It happened again. Luckily it was after the dungeon was over.
Now I deleted my old cache file, reseted all previous console commands and also went to ‘ease of acess’ on windows and disabled everything there, I’m just trying all things I can find related to mouse bugs on forums and trying them.
But may I ask: if the problem is an addon, shouldn’t it go away the moment I disable all of them? Like in the video. I had all of them disabled.
You’d figure - but as it turns out, just disabling them still leaves some of them active in a phantom state, and it doesn’t fix any corrupt data they leave in your WTF/Cache files. That’s why we recommend that you remove addon managers like twitch and such, then delete the WTF/Cache/Interface folders simultaneously. Even if you reinstall the game completely, in fact, an addon manager like twitch may re sync corrupt data, putting you back at square one despite all that time you put into the reinstall. You mentioned uninstalling specific addons but I’ve yet to see you confirm that you’ve completely reset your UI as instructed.
If you don’t do this, some bad data can stick around in one form or another. You need to completely purge all this temp data in order to remove anything that might be hanging around in your files. Just to confirm, did you follow the full process and rid yourself of all addon managers and delete the other files at this point?
So, I didn’t want to post earlier because I was afraid it would jinx it, so I waited a week.
Apparently it worked, it has been 8 days (since my last post) that the bug doesn’t show up. I did a ton of visions and some dungeons. I’m still not sure what made the ‘bug’ go away, but I’m betting on the cvar thing more than the easy of acess.
I used /console cvar_default and installed ElvUI again using its installation window inside the game (enabling some things and such), imported my profile and after some settings I was good to go.
Yeah, well this works only for about 15 minutes. Then I lose both the left and middle button click. I’ve done all this had to go through all the prompts again, and still having the issues. I even bought a new mouse!
