As you can see, I am on an alt.
Started on a PST realm, my TZ is 1.5 hours ahead of EST. (NL Time)
I ran the idea by the leader. Told them i want to raid this expansion, more so than M+, the guild rarely raids, pug if anything. Said i cant raid here on PST realm bc its like 2am when people raid here.
They said, why would you do that, we will prob raid, I am on EST time, why not just make another character etc.
Should i just leave, am i thinking about it too much. I am very friendly with everyone i dont judge, but the guild is generally for LGBTQ. I am the furthest from that and I have never had any friends who identify with that. So i dont feel like a good fit and im on a realm that 4.5 hours behind my time. Idk seems the GL doesnt want me to go, even though I hate M+ and thats all they do.
Appreciate any advice, thanks a lot.
As an aside; I had no idea this would get as much views or comments as it did. All feedback, good bad weird interesting rude nice etc. is all appreciated.
IMO it’s silly to stay in a guild that focuses on M+ when you want to raid. Be polite, say goodbye, and /gquit.

Yeah, i even had a conversation with the GL back in late bfa, like a couple months ago saying how I might transfer my toon and they were best kind. I let them know tried to be nice. But then i brought it up right before SL launch and they had completely different attitude about it. I was honestly considering dumping 50k gold in the bank and just bouncing. They helped me a lot in bfa, carried me in mythics, and stuff. So idk.
Change guilds do what suits best for you and get one that matches you with other players doing the same as you same goals and time frame preferably.

I mean if the time zones are that different it’s probably best to move servers to one within your time zone.

You have to find what’s a good fit for you. You’re the one paying to play the game, and if you want to do other content, then do what you have to do.
The guild also isn’t something you’re particularly into (you mentioned the LGBTQ stuff), and that’s pretty important in my opinion, since a guild is social. That’s on top of you already wanting to branch out and do other types of content.
People in your guild should remain your friend and still want to hang if they truly wanted you to stay. At least that’s what I have done, and would do with people I get along with.
Don’t sweat it so much!
I left a good guild because their raids ended at 2 AM for me, otherwise they were a good match. Now I’m in a guild that ends at 11 PM. Much more reasonable.

thats honestly a really big factor for me. next to the time zone and raiding.
I have nothing against anyone who they are what they do, i get along and i have been for months with this group. Its just ya know, how do i describe it.
Its just clashing personalities, and it feels like im walking on eggshells. Same with people at work, i get along with everyone but they arent the guys who ill spend a friday night watching the game with and joking around, know what i mean. or hitting the bar downtown.
Idk man its good to have a guild at the same time bc i wouldnt have one when i transfer and ill have to pug everything until i find one.
Anyway lol, ill figure it out, i appreciate all the advice and info from people.
Been looking at guild application and stuff, id like to have a place to go before i do leave.
Oh and the ms is bad, 150ms vs 50ms on an EST realm.
Why not just quit? No need to make a scene out of it. If you have actual friends in the guild then you can still talk to them outside the guild no matter what you do. I mean assuming they are “friends” of yours then they won’t mind you being outside the guild and there should be no need to explain yourself.

Idk i only started playing in July of this year, joined them in maybe august.
New to this stuff. I got the vibe from the GL that it wouldnt be okay to leave with my main and keep alts.
And i guess with sensing that kind of thing I shouldnt even be asking myself this question. I should just gquit and not think about it again.
is /gquit what you actually type in? I know now days you can just click on your own name in the guild list and there is a button that says Leave Guild, before that I remember trying like 4 different things to leave /guildleave /guildremove etc…

I’m super sketched out by guilds that do that, it seems really possessive and controlling. Unless they’re close to the limit I don’t see a problem with leaving alts. I know my OG toon stays in her guild even if I don’t play on her much anymore, and they’re fine with it.
Also adding to the red flags (at least what I consider to be): Controlling one’s transmog, donations, and taking BoEs that always seems to go right to the officers.

If you’re not having fun, just quit.
You don’t have to announce your exit or talk to anyone about it. That’s just you wanting drama in your own life. No one is going to care.
Quit and find a group you like.

At the end of the day, if you aren’t happy in your guild, for whatever reason:

Might be right, my lifes been pretty boring since the virus so that may honestly be part of it lmao. Didnt really think of it like that but it makes sense.
Just leave, if you dislike the guild for whatever reason, just bounce. Guilds aren’t the same as they were back in the day, I guildhop constantly, and honest I’d move to a server/guild more fit for the timezone your in for easier raiding in the future. The guild leader has tons of other people to deal with too, at the end of the day, this internal conflict of yours isn’t really on his radar and i doubt he’d setup a raid schedule just to meet your timezone so ultimately your only choice is to bounce.

I absolutely HATE the fact that it shows everyone in the guild that I have left - I know you can turn that off so that YOU don’t have to see when someone else leaves but its set to ON by default for everyone else.
Its not often I leave a guild but I usually wait till 3am or do it or 3 seconds before server shuts down or I log out, or wait till anyone I have grouped with is offline, its just kinda embarrassing.

I’m the exact opposite. I like to say goodbye and wish everyone well so nobody thinks it could be personal. The only time I have stealth quit a guild was during a big guild drama when it was personal.
I’m probably going to have to leave Valkyries, sadly. They’re lovely folks but nobody wants to raid lead so it’s looking like it’s only going to be M+. Anyone in a raiding guild recruiting healers on Silver Hand?
