M+ is not automated grouping for a reason. Blizzard doesn’t want to regulate m+ groups, youre in the wild west as soon as you start pugging. If you don’t think you can trust pugs, find a guild.
Or… Get a dedicated team from a guild or friends or even a community where no one will hopefully leave.
You can’t put that kind of power in players hands. It will be abused.
Person DCs. Aaaand voted “leaver”.
Person has an IRL emergency. Aaand voted “leaver”.
Person does low DPS and is screamed at until they bail. “Leaver”.
Potentially… Person is kicked at the end (this isn’t LFD, it’s not votekick). Aaand voted “Leaver”.
I wouldn’t be opposed to Raider.IO tracking “incomplete runs” or something to that effect. Any M+ run that was started but the final boss was never killed. If that’s possible. It might not be.
No in-game debuff. Just a means of seeing if someone has a notable history of not finishing their runs, whether that’s because their internet connection is unreliable, they ragequit often, or their performance keeps their groups from killing bosses.
I’d rather they incentivize people to stay instead of punish those who leave. Not with more loot. Maybe some other currency…like we need more of those.
Have not run into this yet in SL, I’m sure I will soon enough. Make sure everyone who joins knows the dungeon though!
This early I suspect people care more about loot than RIO score so I dont think pugs will see a lot of leavers for a few weeks at least.
I’ve had 2 quitters in the first week of M+. Both in Necrotic Wake.
1 was a Hunter who bailed after a couple wipes on a tough pull (we didn’t realize the intent was probably to use the spear at the time). We stealthed by it after that and finished the run with 4, ran out of time but at least it was done.
1 was a DK who bailed because his baby woke up. Reasonable enough (although if that was a possibility idk about him queueing up for M+ to begin with). We finished the next 2 bosses with 4 and +2’d the place anyway.
Or what about those people who went to save their kitchen because their cat set the oven on fire?
Also a very important reason to leave M+.
And yeah, stuff happens. Leavers won’t get a debuff, and that’s OK. Their IO score will reflect what type of player they are.
Damn that sucks! But on the bright side, 2 groups that’ll stick together to endure a greater challenge…and succeed!
Here is more bad news op , if you finish the leaver has a chance to get loot in their mailbox and you would know it when you open the chest and find a missing item .
Oh?
Im going to exploit this
The problem is there is no way to do this without also inviting bias and trolling.
The only option is showing objective stats.
A metric showing how many keys entered vs finished vs upgraded.
it is absolutely pathetic that RaiderIO has not worked towards adding a completion score, considering they are 50 percent of the issue here.
But its equally alarming that Blizzard just sits by and watches it happen and says “sorry this isn’t meant to be pugged.”
Well, finding a guild and a community is still a giant part of the game, so maybe you are subject to more leavers if you pug. Not everything IS meant to be as good of an experience if pugged. Otherwise, why bother with guilds.
Oh ya, the premise is sound.
Its just important to realize its the only PVE content in the game that works this way.
If you are trying to pug raids, you can replace people if they leave, whatever the reason.
If you are trying to pug M+ and some one leaves, you not only can’t continue (easily) but you LOSE progression doing so.
Imagine if Mythic raid, every wipe you had to go back to heroic?
What if things were taken the opposite direction, where groups formed with LFG tool have a “forgiveness” window where the first 1-2 failed groups that day don’t impact your key?
It’s not perfect but it’d improve the group ditcher situation significantly, very useful in cases where the run was otherwise going fine but someone left because you weren’t moving at their preferred speed or whatever.
Problem there is that “good” is subjective. Where one player’s “good” is “ending the run with a minute left on the clock”, another’s is “absolutely crushing it, finishing with tens of minutes to spare.”
Yea, I get where you are coming from. I am just thankful the key just goes down a level now instead of depleting, because no one would run a depleted key for no loot. I think you just can’t plan all your systems around all the ways a community can be toxic, leavers isn’t on blizzard it’s on the toxic community that just cares about getting loot and getting loot fast. The best way to get around this IS to join a group of like minded people in an MMORPG and build a non-toxic community.
I have seen some god awful tanks so far, if you can’t hold aggro, or interrupt please do not do M+ stick with heroic, thx
Thing is both times the run was going very smoothly. Somehow the hunter on the first run De Other Side +11 died(his fault) and left the group. Second m+ a demonhunter was the first death halfway through Sanguine Depths +11 and he left the group. Both times heals had no problem keeping me up. It was good time too.
Not saying every tank is bad, just a few i have seen, mostly from ragnaros, no surprise
They’re probably not used to having any interrupts.
I’m good with this option, but it must only be available if they leave the group. Because it’ll get exploited and people will get discriminated, namely DHs, yes I hate them too…sorry
