Stop complaining about it. It may take long to complete but it unlocks flying for all characters in your account.
Do these people really think it would cost 5k per character today?
Remember in pandaria when we had the Grand Expedition Yak as the ultimate gold sink for 120k gold? That’s when flying used to cost 5k gold per character.
Now we have a 5 million gold mount as the ultimate gold sink. Imagine how much flying would cost per character.
Pathfinder is actually the easy way now without gold missions.
Please leave it alone!
Pathfinder is OK with one exception…
The time between part 1 and part 2 needs to be shorter.
Waiting a whole year (almost) for the X.2 patch is too long.
That is my gripe as well. Beyond that I like pathfinder more than shelling out a fortune for each of my guys to fly.
They really need to remove the rep part too. I don’t mind doing lore master or exploring the land.
It needs to be longer at least 2 years
Good point. I agree with it.
Everyone fails to grasp the function of the delay. It’s purely to make this game approachable with the ground limitations for months following release date, instead of limiting the proper WoW experience to those that start playing on the launch of expansion or close to it. A large part of the playerbase still does not have pathfinder part 2 and I started playing this game in 8.2.5. I feel that I did not miss out on anything and I am extremely grateful as a result.
You have to think about what is good for new players just as much as you have to think about what is good for continuing players. It’s a difficult balance, but if we want WoW to continue to have a growing playerbase, this is the kind of compromise that has to be made.
Just like Artifact power requirements have gradually been reduced over time, the same can be with Pathfinder too. People need to move pass this false dilemma mentality that it’s one way or the other, compromises can be made to make it take less effort over time, but still obtainable to those that dedicate themselves to it.
I’m with you… pathfinder is fine. But enough people have made good points to prove to me that Pathfinder is not a complete solution.
Immerse the flying experience a bit more with content, danger, etc. and you could close the gap.
They likely will ease up on it, probably in 8.3. Probably closer to shadowlands when the pre-expansion hype is building stronger.
Maybe they will give us ways to earn rep faster, maybe they will buff world quests. Who knows. They don’t have to change pathfinder to make it easier to get for a specific window of time near the end of the expansion. Any value in the game can be tuned.
But then flying becomes not fun. The whole reason it is fun is because you are totally free in the sky.
Part 2 sucks and needs dropped.
Earning rep makes no sense. No fly zones usually have to do with government relations, not one person. No one picks out Bob the pilot and singles him out to not fly because he’s not friendly enough.
Make it do all the quests, explore all areas, find the treasures. And leave it the hell at that.
The reason people like flying is simple–it shortens the amount of time to get to places. Full stop.
Immersive flying (content designed to make some zones dangerous for flying, fun for flying, etc.) could really close the gap here.
There’s no perfect solution to it, and (despite being in the “no flying” camp myself) I agree with the frustrated ones that Part II is just egregious.
They actually would single out a random unauthorized pilot. Who do you think they would take it up with? The pilot’s parents? The manufacturer of the airplane?
They usually single out pilots from a certain country. In this case they’d take it up with your King. Anduin, get to earning that rep!
100%.
I’ve suggested that blizzard should add more “filler” content to the open world launch zones prior to x.2 zones to help people who started early and blasted through the content and power progression.
This could help the “wait time” for those who feel burned out doing world quests for months waiting for something new.
Or set up AA batteries and flying patrols, etc. (like they do over the main cities) to impede simple AFK auto-flying.
That’s one reason, another is that it is just really fun to rip around and it’s a beautiful sight to behold.
I couldn’t care less about the increased progression when I think about how fun it is to fly around. It’s just unbecoming of the world of warcraft experience for us to have access to it without a great struggle. We need to not have it for long enough to understand how little it really matters. I honestly believe that people who can’t enjoy the game without flying, should not be playing this game.
So say some random hero wearing engineering goggles with some whack pink glowing transmog is flying up on a phoenix and nobody knows who they are, and they are just flying over your castle scouting out the scene. Nobody knows who this random person is. They look to be immensely powerful. It’s sketchy, and doesn’t make sense from an RP perspective even remotely.
While I hear you and respect your opinion, there’s a whole camp of people who loved the open threat of moving around and creating spontaneous wPvP opportunities. It’s not for everyone, I get that, but when flying entered the mix it completely eliminated battlefield-like PvP.
