What is the best way and how do you level leather working from 60 up to 100? Do see guides but they pretty much do not go past 60
Unfortunately, most skill points from 60+ Leatherworking will come from using Spark crafts. Blizzard assumed that players are willing to have items crafted at a lower ilvl within their bracket (Spark, Spark+Wyrm, Spark+Aspect) then have them recrafted later up to their highest potential.
They don’t want to settle for anything less than the absolute best.
Burn any excess S1 (Inspiration) and S2 (Shadowflame) sparks from you or alts to fuel your crafts, and visit the Darkmoon Faire every month.
Where do you get these patterns that will advance the skill past 60? All I have are the ones from the trainer.
The Spark gear crafts for Leatherworking are found in both Leather Armor Crafting and Mail Armor Crafting.
Here’s the unfortunate truth - you will have to spend at least 20 specialization knowledge points to unlock one pattern. You can earn up to 14 knowledge points per week, not counting the Darkmoon Faire quests or the weekly point from the Forbidden Reach.
You have some different options to start with.
to 80
Or you can make
to 80
or you can make
to 75
locations for those recipes are found on their respective pages.
After 80 though you’ll want to either use alts to do a lot of spark crafts (every alt has access to 5 season 1 sparks you can use on throwaway armor). Or you can go the more RNG route of using one spark to craft something and then recraft it over and over with a 1/10 chance of getting a skill point. Or some combination of both. LW kinda lost out relative to the other professions in terms of options to max skill on.
Alternately with a lot of mettle you can make profession gear, but you need renown 18 with various factions to get the patterns. Those patterns do go up to 100 though.
Here is a list of all the patterns and their skill points range. You can sort by skill points to get them in order. Note that the learned skill value is wrong on the ones you get from knowledge points, but the range at which the patterns give skill should be correct:

How do you gain more knowledge each week? The trainer gives a quest but that is just one point
I gathered items that give like 3 points each. So up to 26 now.
weekly you can do:
- Trainer quest => 3 points
- Artisans work order quest (I use an alt to make the orders) => 3 points
- Materials quest => 3 points
- have an inscriptionist make you a draconic treatise of leatherworking => 1 point
- kill vorquin in middle northern Azure Span for a drop => 1 point
- kill dragons at the starting area of waking shores (NE area) for a drop => 1 point
- go around opening expedition scout packs until you get 2x drops => 2 points ( 1 point each)
- farm a drop from creatures in the forbidden reach for a LW item, convert it to a special summoning item to summon a rare that gives you a drop => 1 point
That’s like 15 points per week. Though I always skipped over that last one as it was really really RNG for me and took too much time. Here is a weak aura to help you track it: https://wago.io/w4D9R3Ykr
Additionally you can focus on any one time bonuses you may have missed:
- Filter your LW journal for first time crafts and do one of each of those
- see any any of your base renowns give you professions boosts and work on those: https://www.wowhead.com/news/earning-knowledge-points-with-renown-which-professions-for-which-faction-330436
- go visit your Leatherworking Master Trainer for a one time boost: https://www.wowhead.com/news/get-profession-knowledge-from-hidden-profession-masters-330255
- go out in the world and find all the one time LW point treasures (36points): https://www.wowhead.com/guide/professions/knowledge-point-treasure-locations-dragon-isles#leatherworking-treasures
- work on artisans consortium rep for their rep books
- work on looam niffen rep for their rep books
materials quest? Where do I find that?
Once I hit 30 points I can pick a second specialty? How does that work?
I forget when they unlock offhand, but if you know where the work order quest NPC is, the materials quest is off to the left of that (the work order station is between them).
You might need a certain amount of skill to unlock them…I don’t recall now
If I understand correctly what you are asking, I believe that means you can open up another one of your specialty tabs (you have 4 in LW) in your specializations UI. If you didn’t unlock the Leatherworking Discipline tab yet, that is a good 2nd one to do as the first node gives skill points in everything in LW
Make lots of Fang adornments for no reason, then
Having a bunch of inspiration and shadowflame sparks sitting around was critical for getting 85-100 in a reasonable time.
I also got lucky with some public work orders.
is this the name of the npc for these points? Search on wow head kind of says it is a leatherworking trainer
For the weekly kill drops, you want to target Azure Vorquins in the Azure Span and Primal Proto-Drakes in the Waking Shores near the Wingrest Embassy.
Vorquins are the deer creatures you will find in the span. They are usually neutral and travel often in packs. There are many iterations of them so vorquin is the generic name. Not to be confused with the annoying bruffalon that are usually hostile and eager to engage you on sight.
I get that now, when i looked it up at first to find a location came up with a npc with that name
