I have an injury where I broke my neck (fortunately I am not paralyzed) and have permanent nerve damage that causes certain muscles not work. I hadn’t played for a while, and about two months before the scheduled release of SL, I leveled and started getting ready and gearing up a hunter. Within a week I could barely lift a coffee cup at all the pain was so pad. Saw my doc and it was diagnosed as tennis elbow.
I’ve been working on it a while and letting it rest and doing my PT, and I think I can play a little each day now, but I don’t want to aggravate it again and play anything else until I have completely rehabbed the arm. So as the title says, I’m looking for a class that requires the least amount of mousing so I can:
- Get to end game so I can do the daily content and prepare for leveling alts when it’s better.
- The, if possible, have something to slowly gear up with my friends in M+ and Low level raiding so I can at least partake and experience this expac. I’ve played every release since vanilla.
These are my goals in order.
Note: I am not asking about APM. My left arm is fine. However, lower APM would be good because I use to have a lot of mouse keybinds which I will have to move to the keyboard.
Thoughts? Thanks in advance.
Hopefully you get better in time friend with PT! I think a hunter or a melee class would require the least amount of mouse work because you can keyboard turn and a lot of them have very few keys. You might also look into a logitech type gaming pad instead as that gives you a bit more control and more buttons at a smaller reach =).
I’ve found that elemental shamans only have about 4 buttons in their rotation and a pretty static gameplay with tab targeting. Frost dks have been pretty straight forward along with ret paladins as well. Best of luck ^.^

Maybe a ranged class with a nice tanking pet? I don’t end up moving around a lot on my hunter or warlock. There’s often no need to and, in the case of the warlock, you have to stay put for most of your casting.

Hunter and Warlock seem like they would be the easiest for you, due to them having tanking pets. I hope you recover over time, friend.

Destro lock isnt too bad and has a lower APM for the most part. BM and MM are “easy” but their APM can vary really. Frost mage is pretty solid and straight forward and the only time you’ll really need to use your mouse is when you use Blizzard in AoE.
Your looking more for a class that can stand and fight since the majority of mouse movement is in game movement. You need something tanky or pet oriented so you can move as little as possible. Prot pally is amazing for face tanking everything. BM hunter is fairly obvious choice for standing back and pewpewing. Put Demo lock in that catagory as well. All 3 of these have little to no targeted spells (aka have to click thh game world to activate the spell) All 3 of these can be talented for mostly passive effects while still being viable for play.
Above all, if you haven’t already, learn to tab target!!!

I think you could get a gamepad, download a few programs to make it compatible with WoW.
Wouldn’t have to move your arm at all when playing.
I am sorry to hear that! Hope your PT helps you!
I’d say your best bet is a range / pet class.
Hunter would be ideal. Ele shamans would be nice.
And class that has less targetted AoE, so you can minimize right hand mouse movement.
CTRL+1 — send pet to attack.
CTRL+2 — returns pet or something like that.
Have other keybinds for abilities if 1-0 is not enough
I also use QERTFG
As for moving, altho A and D are rotating, if you hold both mouse buttons and use A+S and D+S — it will move side to side, rather than spin, (default keybinds)
I don’t think you will be able to do PvP, but PvE you should be able to do it.

Thanks all for your well wishes and suggestions. I’m down to either Destro Loc or Ele Shaman. Leaning toward Destro. I actually lived in this world for five straight months after I shattered my tibia back in 2006 and couldn’t leave a recliner while it healed. This game was so good for my pain and isolation. Now that I’m disabled, I hope to live in it again some… I need it.
Arcane Mage hands down
Press Arcane Blast when 1 or 2 targets
Press Arcane Explosion and Arcane Barrage when 3 or more targets
Big multidirectional AOE attacks, you just frost nova, barrier, block or nova for defense, have a stealth to escape oh sh situations.
Talent for Arcane Explosion/Barrage spam and you will be gucci until that arm heals.
