Least favorite dungeon per expansion?

Classic=Gnomer. Normally I’d be excited for a technological place, but it’s just too much trash, too many confusing corridors, I know that can make a dungeon fun in a lot of ways, but it’s just this dungeon I just find annoying. I don’t want it removed though due to the fact Viscous Fallout has a water breathing staff.

BC-Escape from Durnholde. The story and environment is actually reasonable, it’s just too slow pace is all.

Wrath-Occulus. Too many people just don’t know what’s going on.

Cata-Grim Batol. Just a bit too long, even if its nice and linear and when it was current relying on other people to get the quest done right to kill those troggs was annoying.

MOP-Siege of Niuzao Temple. I actually really enjoyed this instance the only reason I didn’t like it was the way when it was current tanks would always kill the first boss then take off. Otherwise I found Shado-Pan Monastery a bit annoying with the trash towards the end.

WoD-I actually think WoD didn’t have any bad dungeons, but the Everbloom was a bit more on the annoying side on the third boss, Archmage Sol that seemed to be a real pug killer back in the day.

Legion-The Arcway. I think it was a mythic only dungeon when it came out, so was naturally pretty annoying on trash and Nightborne elves with their annoying time manipulation spells.

BFA-The mythic mode of Underrot I found the most annoying. And Tol Dagor sucks a bit on trash but it’s okay.

vanilla dont have one since did them all way more then was healthy but is how i met and help build up the main guild ive been part of since

BC. mana tombs only because any pug group always tried to skip easy groups. that after a fear or a misstep would cause a wipe.

Wrath. hm may e lighting halls only because pugs not running away on last boss or the lighting that chases you.

cata didnt play
pandaland didnt play still no intrest in ethier one.

WOD didnt enjoy any of the 5mans

Legion liked them all

BFA. no 5 man is intresting to me. happy with solo content though

Classic: Gnomergan

TBC: The Black Morass.

Wrath: The Oculus

Cata: Zul’aman and Zul’Gurub. I don’t find them bad or anything, I just hate that they removed the originals.

MoP: Scholomance. Same reason as above.

WoD: The Everbloom.

Legion: Eye of Azshara.

BfA: The Motherlode.

Classic: Gnomer because the optimal route skips out on like half of the scenery.

BC- Opening of the dark portal because it’s slow and boring.

Wrath- Violet Hold because it’s slow and boring.

Cata- TBH I kind of like all of the dungeons. (From playing them in a modern-wow standpoint.) The scenery is stunning in all of them and none of them are super slow paced or boring.

Wod- Same with Cata. Like them all.

Legion- Violet Hold because it is literally just a copypaste of the Wrath dungeon that everyone hated.

BFA- ANY OF THEM in mythic plus.

To elaborate, I enjoy the affixes and heightened difficulty of Mythic Plus, but despise the timer, because it turns it from adapting to the higher difficulty and new mechanics to a speedrun of something that you can’t really speedrun unless you’ve seen it before, which makes no sense. On your first extremely high Mythic Plus key you are pretty much destined to fail, because the only place you can get practice for high keys is IN high keys.

Occulus.

There is no other dungeon in any other expansion that can compete.

Classic: Deadmines. I hated traveling there.
TBC: Loved them all.
Wrath: Loved them all.
Cata: Loved them all.
MoP: I dislike every dungeon based in MoP.
WoD: All of them.
Legion: They were fine.
BfA: Meh

The only one that really stands out to me is original Scholomance, back when it was packed with wall-to-wall trash mobs and you pretty much needed a raid group to do it.

Based on leveling experience:

Vanilla: Stratholme, its to overtuned currently. Making it long and tedious, I rather quit and sit out my deserter debuff.

BC: Arcatraz, more based on time walking everyone thinks the start is a gauntlet but all you gotta do is kill the archers at the entrance.

Wrath: Oculus, I guess? I tend to lose the group a lot there.

Cata: The Stone Core: For the love off people stop standing in the cleave!!

MoP: The one with the mantis in the middle going up the stairs its long and tedious.

Draenor: I actually havent played Draenor, aside from timewalking and all of those are great.

Legion: Cathedral of Eternal Night, that one gave me headaches on Mythic tanking on so many levels.

BfA: Kings Rest, I dont think I ever want to tank that one unless I have too. Im scared to try to heal it because of it.

you just dont understand gnomish engineering v_v.

worst dungeon :
in classic was by far diremaul.

in TBC was w/e the netherstorm one was with the unending mobs near start that screwed over anyon eif they died and had to release.

wrath was HoR.

cata was also grim batol.

mists was tie with siege and moshugan vault

WoD had burial grounds

Legion had both of the nightborn ones.

BFA had haunted mansion <_<

for folks complaining about gnomeregan, you realize there’s a parachute you get before the jumps, right?
now then, let’s see… least favorite dungeons…

classic - wailing caverns (takes too long, the rewards are’nt worth it)

BC - escape from durnholde (thralls WAY too slow)

wotlk - halls of stone/the nexus/halls of reflection (both halls have bosses that take too long, and nexus is just too big and frequent)

cata - stonecore and blackrock caverns (frikkin ozruk and his insta-kills… and there always seemed to be a constant stream of damage in blackrock caverns… also when you get a dumb tank who won’t pull through the lava)

mop- siege of niuzao temple, and shado-pan monastary (last sections of both are just annoying.)

WoD- auchindoun and skyreach (only cause they came up more often than the others.)

legion- don’t care for any of’em. but the worst? return to kharazan. (never can loot mana devourer, and the last boss’s frikkin insta-kills…)

bfa- freehold. (entire thing just feels silly to me.)

Classic: Dire Maul… I loathe that place.
BC: Magister’s Terrace for me. I don’t know why though, I just found it annoying.
Wrath: Occulus, which should not come as a shock to anyone. You know it’s bad when they have to bribe tanks/healers to run it.
Cataclysm: Blackrock Caverns (shudder)
Pandaland: None that I think of that annoyed me that much.
WoD: Same, none stand out as that bad.
BFA: That stupid Goblin one… with forty bajillion adds.

;cookie:

for folks complaining about gnomeregan, you realize there’s a parachute you get before the jumps, right?

In addition to 30+ adds that a hunter’s pet will inevitably pull, yes.

Vanilla: Maraudon & gnometown

BC: The Botanica maybe? Not sure cause I like them all.

WOTLK: Oculus & Trial

Cata: Stonecore(people can’t seem to understand the 3rd boss)

MoP: Stormstout & Shadow-Pan

WoD: Grimrail

Legion: Eye of Azshara(mainly because for some reason that was the only dungeon I was terrible at)

BfA: To be honest I’ve done most, but haven’t had the time to really “experience” them. If I had to pick I’d say The Underrot.

“it’s the lich King! Ruuuuun!!” -sylvanas/jaina

“Break your selves upon my body!” - one stoney jerk (ozruk)

“Yes yes! No! No no no no! Yes! Peppers” - some drunk panda.

“Oh look…iron docks…again” - every player in wod

“You want to take MY HAMMER!?!?” - some pygmy trogg guy

“Oh hell naw” - every tank entering mother lode.

My quotes should remind you which dungeons they are :stuck_out_tongue:

Classic: UBRS. Too many people aggro the trolls. Too many people ignore the impalement quest. Too many people try to skip all of the bosses they can. Too many people think they can pull two rooms at once. Too many people who either pull too much or too little. Runs take way too long. Environment itself gets old incredibly quick and it becomes mind-numbing in a very not-fun way.

Burning Crusade: Heroic Sethekk. Fears are the best way to challenge the group, right? Nearly every single mob having a Fear makes it challenging and not at all cheap, right? Getting feared into other groups literally less than 2 yards away and then getting chain feared all because the tank dare to deal with more than 3 mobs at a time is fun, right?

Lich King: Pit of Saron. Timewalking says all there needs to be on the subject. Not a hard or time consuming dungeon. But the playerbase makes it take longer than a mediocre group doing LFD BRD.

Cataclysm: Throne of the Tides. Dialogue is awful. Bosses aren’t fun in any way. Erunakk’s fight has never been properly tuned. The gauntlet before Neptulon is always bugged. Always. The elevator is way too slow. Just. Awful.

Mists: Niuzao Temple. NO ONE target the Amber Weavers and prioritizes them or interrupts them. Never gets out of the amber shield or pulls them out of it. Never uses the gong or kicks you if you so dare as to try to shave a full 3 freakin’ minutes off the 2nd boss, because God forbid you take advantage of the demolishers during the big rush pull. GOD FORBID A RANGED DPS OR HEALER STICKS WITH EVERYONE SO MELEE AND THE TANK DON’T HAVE TO STOP WHAT THEY’RE DOING AND CHASE THE 3RD FREAKIN’ BOSS FOR AN ATTACK THAT DOES NEGLIGABLE DAMAGE AND KNOCKBACK. This is why people leave after the first boss.

Warlords: Mythic Skyreach for overtuning the living hell out of Ruhk’ran, and leaving it be for the rest of the expansion. Actual design and content goes to Everbloom for making unnecessary winds and turns to pad length alongside trash that was literally Subject Zero for the awful trash-centered mentality Mythic+ ended up being.

Legion: Actual content and design goes to Seat of the Triumvirate. Overtuned just like Cathedral, not a single thing about the dungeon stands out about itself other than remembering how people never could deal with the oozes properly. None of the bosses were memorable. An actual and serious chore. Personally, to me, 2nd place is Maw of Souls. Not a bad dungeon, but I have a deep seated and intense irrational phobias for deadly storms out at sea–and seeing a huge amount of water spouts with colossal waves means I have to focus on the floor the whole time. You can see where that leads.

BFA: Seriously and truly, all of them. Freehold’s bosses are either total silly memes at best, or downright unintuitive at worst (looking at you, Captains). Sethraliss is STILL bugged and likely will never be fixed. Korgus in Tol’Dagor is a nightmare for melee DPS that rely on extremely short CD periods to offload damage. That’s just the baseline stuff as an example, and isn’t including how utterly ridiculous it gets with Mythic+ and affixes. Don’t even get me started on MOTHERLOAD.

See. I was right :stuck_out_tongue:

Wailing Caverns = i have poor memory so i gets lost.
Botanica = Too much purple.
Nexxus = Lost + falling.
Throne of Tides = Missed the elevator
SNT = Too long.
Docks = because it feels like the only dungeon in queue.
AVH = Too long
Shrine of infinite healers of the storm needing constant CC.

  1. Classic: The Stockade - You had to go to Stormwind and sneak in before Alliance attakced you. Plus, targeting was difficult because the ceiling is so low.
  2. Burning Crusade: Escape from Durnholde Keep - Thralls horse was so slow and always had to wait for him.
  3. Wrath of the Lich King: Oculus - Had to fight last boss on dragons and always got stuck with red.
  4. Cataclysm: Throne of the Tides - Not sure why but I just didn’t like that place.
  5. Mists of Pandaria: I left before this came out.
  6. Warlords of Draenor: I was still unsubbed.
  7. Legion: I came back tail end of Legion just before pre-BFA but dungeons got nerfed xp and scaling was terrible so haven’t done dungeons since returning.
  8. Battle for Azeroth: All the dungeons required to unlock the war campaign mount and Kul’Tirans because I have to play a race and faction I don’t enjoy.

Classic: Dire maul. I just found it so big and confusing, but also kind of bland.
BC: Black Morass. I hate that time gated wave style of dungeons. Also, it was an ugly swamp. Took way too long.
WoTLK: Violet hold and Occulus. I actually wouldnt mind occulus if it wasnt for the fact that barely anyone knows what they’re doing.
Cata: Throne of tides. It was just kinda boring to me and if you do the octopus boss, it felt really long.
MoP: I liked all the MoP dungeons.
WoD: Didn’t play.
Legion: Catherdral of eternal night. It was way overtuned and no one ever bothered to learn the mechanics from there.
Battle for Azeroth: I am fine with them all.
