Last night was my first attempt at doing CotS on LFR, and I see now that Blizzard is determined to going back to making bosses more challenging for players who do Normal/Heroic versions of a raid. While this isn’t a bad thing, it’s great compared to how it was back in classic because now bosses are more transparent and you don’t have to tell your whole guild when to do what, and if you haven’t guessed what I’m talking about:
For the most part I’ve been learning bosses since the dawn of time through videos and experience. The problem I’ve been running into is that video guides is like a funnel of information all at once and pretty much everything is important. The other thing I dislike about videos is that most of the people who make them have too many addons on their screen, it takes up too much energy and it’s hard to see what’s going on despite the shaders and indications used in them. So I packed up my things for Crucible of Eternity, and said screw it I’m going to just use the in-game guide.
It felt more fluid to read about each ability rather than have someone explain it to me. So I went ahead and memorized as much as I could about the bosses, up to Heroic tier and explained to people just how hard the new bosses are. My only wish is that Blizzard elaborated on the functionality of relics between us and Uu’nat, like for instance, how the frost blast from the trident relic can wipe the entire group. I’m sure in a video they would explain the missing stuff that’s not so obvious, and its those tiny chunks that help the players that they can add to the panel in the adventure guide.
I think I’m going to stick with learning bosses this way and then just watching a video just to see what the abilities look like and things like that. Patience, after all, is the key to beating raids anyway.
