I’m a long time player. I main tank and I’m fine at DPS. I’ve never really healed much and I want to get better at it, but I have no idea what to play. When I try leveling one to learn it feels like nothing matters since low level dungeon healing is nothing but at max level I always get lost in how many things there are.
Druid healing is a good start. Ive mained both druid and disc priest. Also addons help a lot and you are right low level healing is a joke. With druid just keep the tank hoted and learn whrn damage ins coming and hot themnnefore it hits
Healers with direct healing and less specialized utility are the easiest to wrap your head around.
Avoid mistweaver, discipline and H paladin imo.
I feel like the others are more straight forward to wrap your head around.
Next patch will have follower dungeons for you to practice with a little bit more. You can pull for the tank to adjust the amount of incoming DMG and push yourself a bit until you feel ready for low keys, heroics are almost universally crap shows at this point.
I think Druid healing is the easiest to start with (and it’s very strong on the high end too). They simply have everything you could want/need, and being Heal over Time based means you can fire and forget and still generally come out okay
As a longtime healer, I agree with these two being great for beginners. I’m playing rdruid this season and can’t believe folks are suggesting that to start with to someone who’s never really healed much. But maybe that’s because it’s still relatively new to me.
OP, there are proactive and reactive healers. Proactive healers are going to rely on ramping up big healing bursts and usually require a bit more finesse and general fight mechanics knowledge to really shine. Reactive healers are, imo, easier to get into as you’re usually reacting in-time to damage going out without much ramping needed. Resto shaman and holy priest are great options for more reactive healing.
My addon of choice as well. Also, if you can do weakauras, I set them up for every character to have a HUD for cooldowns, rotations, etc. Invaluable… but does have a learning curve.
Yeah I mean, like I said I have a lot of experience in the game but just not on heals. Right now I’m thinking I’m going to try Resto Druid just because I have a lot of fond memories of Balance but I’ll see if it works out.
I’d say resto sham or holt priest since they’re the most straightforward. Surprised people are recommending druid. It’s the only healer I go oom on often and hots just don’t feel as good as regular heals.
prefer to use vuhdo its very customizable and overall better then healbot imo and for what healer to learn id pick a priest as they are usually always meta and decent id stay away from holy pally, shaman and monks Holy pallys are down bad right now im not even talking about their lack luster numbers, the actual play style sucks. shamans are always just utility healers and are just CDS, and monks are just the flavor of the month atm and are semi difficult to play proper and usually bad LUL (former monk main) Druids are fun to play just HoT all the things, but with the recent rework your healing is mostly based on your pets and its not fun to me.
