Learning Prowl 2 Problem

Classic Era (1-60)

I got a temp pet to learn Prowl 2. I’ve been fighting with him for almost an hour and still haven’t learned Prowl 2 from him.

  • He’s loyalty 2.
  • He’s happy.
  • It’s on auto-cast.
  • Tried lower mobs that he can handle on his own, so I can stand beside him
  • Tried mobs our level and melee them.
  • Tried sitting there and canceling it so he’d recast it.

Does RNG just hate me, or am I missing something?

I am an absolute noob at hunter but I do believe that you need to kill at-level mobs that you get XP for (not your pet) so that your pet can then get XP. You can kill these however you like (ranged or melee). As your pet gets combat experience I think this will give you training points. You can then open up the training point UI and learn whatever is there.

So I guess my questions are:

  • Is Prowl 2 something that particular pet can learn? There’s a website somewhere you might have to google.
  • Does your pet already know it and you just have to train it?

Learning skills like this is all rng. He doesn’t have to kill mobs his level, he just has to use the ability. Every time the cat uses prowl you have a chance to learn it. Double check your beast skills tab to see if you missed the yellow text, its happened to me a lot. Remember this skill will be grayed out because this particular pet already knows the skill. If it shows up at all, you have learned it.

I gave up and sat in town. It was on autocast, and I’d instantly have him remove it, only for it to be recast. Repeat, and eventually I learned it. No need to even fight anything.
