I’ll admit I fell victim to Blizzards malicious and deceptive release of BFA. Coming off of the quite excellent expansion of Legion and the prospect of finally being back to alliance vs horde, I bought the expansion before it came out.
Learn from this mistake which many people also made.
I will not be buying this expansion for a minimum of 6 months as this is enough time to thoroughly research the end game, abilities and covenants, and my beloved subtlety spec. There needs to be overwhelming praise for shadowlands. This expansion is the true test for Blizzard in my opinion. Bfa is so much worse than Warlords was by an enormous gulf. This expansion must be good and I will not support retail unless that is so.
You don’t have to wait 6 months minimum like I will be doing. You can wait less. But I caution you to hold off on the hype and take a step away until Blizzard proves that this expansion is worth buying.
Classes must have all 3 specs viable in all forms of content.
All covenants must be all worth using to all roles. If a single covenant is not “bis” then it is dead content on arrival.
There cannot be borrowed power items like corruption, artifact power or any related items.
PvP vendors are confirmed. These items must be better than mythic raid gear in PvP instances. This is a huge one. If pve gear is still better than PvP gear in these instances, PvP gear is dead upon arrival and we run into the problem with the past two expansions.
18 days left on my sub to farm mogs! After that I’m going to try to take a break and probably waiting out the initial 4 months from Oct-Jan to see where they are at. Then again my mom has stage 4 cancer, the pandemic has killed my ability to work(part in fact to my mom having stage 4 cancer and her living with me, needed my care) and WoW is a great escape where I can be around other people and not worry about what’s going on IRL…
I’m not one to be optimistic or give Blizz the benefit of the doubt often… but what I’m excited about is what I’ve already seen on YouTube from people in Beta and what non-shills are saying about the leveling, alt compatibility, class design (For priests in particular), professions and Torghast.
I’m reasonably sure they’ve earned their money this expansion.
The warning signs were absolutely there in BFA, I chose to ignore them. I’m not seeing the warning signs for SL.
Well at the earnings call it was stated that Shadowlands had a ridiculous amount of pre-orders so I don’t think many people are going to be doing what you’re doing, OP.
LOL For BFA you would’ve waited until today? See how each content patch plays out. Then you’ll be like those people who play only up to the last expansion with base game.
I pre-ordered BFA and look i’m still playing 2 years later, had more than my money worth.
I pre-ordered Shadowlands, because i’m a nerd a no-life and addicted to wow, things don’t always change.
Did you play BFA on release date? If yes, then pre ordered or not, you’d still be disappointed so I really don’t see the point of this thread, like the other “Don’t pre-order” threads. Pre-orders give devs a bonus to work on a better expansion, or so I do hope.
And you’ll be the first one to complain when you’re behind 6 months on stuff we’ve already done.
Maybe their catch-up systems already in place from the beginning won’t be as punishing as they’ve been. Altho I feel you’re right, players will still complain even with the most robust catch-up systems.
There will be catch up on gear like there always is.
But if the past few expansion are any indication, there’s no rep catch up until very late expansion. So whatever rep is needed for the inevitable Pathfinder part1, one who waits 6 months will still need to grind it.
