Nah, they wouldn’t pass up the chance to sell Deluxe Editions of further expansions. Easy money. That right there tells me it’s nonsense.
They are charging for expansions. That tells me it’s legit.

Well, at least some parts of this leak we will know very soon are they true (about sod fresh+hardcore / TBC Hardcore / WoD classic). If some parts of this are true (first thing we will know very soon is about TBC hardcore, and also very important condition - that it will be not on doomhowl) - then i think we can believe other parts of this announcement.
None of the leaks really interest me which sucks a bit, but I’ll live. At the very least, some of it sounds interesting, and some sound silly like SoD Fresh.
MoP to retail I find odd since Legion is one of the most hyped expansions to replay in classic progression, but I suppose with remixes being in retail that has curtailed it a bit.

Diablo 4 require you to buy battle pass for seasons but there is no subscription for playing the game.
world of Warcraft require monthly subscription to play
And will surely have MTX out of the gate
But don’t worry, some bootlicker will come in here and say “well they have to make money somehow”
I don’t mind paying for seasonal content, along with a monthly fee, in classic+ if this means content released is of higher quality.
You know they hired a bunch of people for classic specifically recently right?

If they make a good game and stop getting embarrassed by pservers doing everything better.. Bots, rmt.. Actual content.. I’d happily pay for a pass. Sod was almost.. If they had more than 1 dev.. And actually had vision..

MS minimum profit margin for gaming is now 30%, so I think you are spot on.
Likely Blizz (studio) regards all WoW versions as the same game to keep it safe from MS shutting down projects (smart on blizz)
But to meet that min req they will monetize the hell outa any new IP and those that have no RMT built in (like Era) will have no services to force re-rolls to play with friends to keep them more profitable.
MS is smart, and so is Blizz (studio) in respect to gaming their actions, Its logical to sell the wow token to TBC / Wrath coiners; the cant help themselves.
Hell this is almost 100% why they dont ban bots, allow in game boosting and very well may not sell boosts directly (but maybe in special edition pack) for like 100+$
