Leading a pug in Heroic to try and get AoTC

Buckled down and formed my own group last to get heroic azshara killed for AoTC. Made it to Queens Court before we fell apart due to both tanks having to go, but all in all we did pretty good. Three more bosses and if I keep slamming my head against the wall I just might get it.

Any tips for leading a pug from court and on? Thinking discords gonna be mandatory for the last 2 bosses, but idk yet. Any advice is appreciated.

Back in Legion, I had to lead pugs a lot. I’d make an announcement before we began pulling, essentially putting a discord link out there and saying it was optional, unless we screwed up. Then I would appreciate it if people got in there.

Queen’s Court is simple enough. Just remember to tell your members to focus down the sparks one at a time and leave a five second interval between each one dying so the debuff doesn’t wreck your team. The biggest concern I would have would be Za’qul. A pug going through that might be nightmarish. Azshara is less problematic, and if you make it passed Za’qul, I’d say you’re probably in the clear provided people do enough damage and don’t tunnel on Queen.

Honestly this late in this raid, I would just buy it so you don’t miss out on your achievement…on heroic ashara is a very complicated boss, your pug needs solid communication

Under other circumstances I might, but I was able to push this far in just a few hours that I think with some effort and asking for a higher ilvl I could get it done.

Outside of Orgozoa, due to just a bad transition, we one shot the bosses while asking fot 420+ and most of the group didnt have AoTC.

My advice is get good players who are on alts and they will essentially carry the group. Keep the lfg open at all times and just keep kicking the :poop:ers

Make sure people are familiar with the decrees. Designate a position for stack + soak if necessary… we usually did ‘closest orb to the console’. Stupidly high stacks from screwing up decrees can cause needless corpses that will make the last phase harder to deal with.

Spears + Pillars = bad. Easy to panic/get caught offguard when suddenly she’s doing her channeled ‘hide behind a pillar’ ability while you have the spear coming at you shortly.

Make sure the console user knows what they’re doing… whether it’s you or someone else.

Keep an eyeball on the seals vs people’s debuff stacks. Don’t let them get close to failing, and make sure everyone knows how they work. Call out individual people to head to specific locations if necessary. It’s easy to forget them during a chaotic bit of the fight.

Hulks = murder quickly, but tell your group to not use stuns unless they’re 5 seconds or you don’t have any other choice. The second one can be trapped and later stunned/murdered depending on your group’s dps.

Those are the mechanics that largely irritated us the most.

… and don’t be the one responsible to do the knockback on the adds and then forget to spec into typhoon. I mean, who would do something silly like that. Seriously now. /shifty eyes.

Court is a script. Kill the sparks individually and group up for the charge.

Za’qul is probably the hardest of the 3 (assuming you have enough dps for azshara burn). If you’re having trouble in the first 50% of the fight, lust on the first maddening eruption to get him to 50% asap. If not, then lust on the first shield. If you have enough DPS then ignore the summoners and full burn boss in P4. If you don’t have the DPS for that burn, then once the summoners come up head down into the fear realm, kill them, come up, and then full burn boss. You’ll need 1 person to hop down into fear to call out the position of the maddening eruption in P4. Send your highest DPS into the delirium realm (beware sending fire mages down with melee).

For Azshara… If you don’t have enough DPS for the burn strat… get enough DPS for the burn strat. The burn strat is MASSIVELY easier to execute than the actual strat. Do P1 like usual. After P1, put the boss next to the center rune and full out burn her. Have everyone get their stacks from the center rune. LoS the explosion and have Arcane burst debuffs dispelled when LoS of the boss. Make sure your tanks pick up the myrmidon during the second intermission, don’t aim the spears into the columns/console, and cleave it down while burning her. Straight up ignore the tidemistresses. When she charges the console with overload, make sure the raid is away from the console for the void zones. Once you see the void zones have a designated person go click the console x4. Dodge red lines. Rinse repeat til dead.

How to know if you don’t have the DPS to execute the burn strat:

  • You get 2 hulks in P1 (technically it’s still possible if your transitioning almost immediately after the second hulk)
  • You get the Indomitable add in P2 (not the small packs of devoted, the big add)

If either of those situations occur, get better DPS. Otherwise, look up the real strat, cause it’s a lot more complicated and requires a lot more execution.

TBH, just make AOTC a requirement then ezpz

Now that’s a solid meme, to both.

My guild wiped for weeks on Queen Azshara because we were trying to do it the normal way. We one one shot the first try with the burn strat. Seriously, just do the burn strat. Trying to do it the normal way in a pug is futile.

That’s exactly how we got our first heroic kill too

Uh ? Pugs do the burn strat now.

Heroic Azshara is dumb easy, it’s hero and burn for like 60% of the fight.

Admittedly I haven’t did a heroic ashara kill in a long long time and never with a pug
