Anyone know why are layers back on NA PVE classic wow? Is this a permanent/semi permanent thing? Gonna be annoying…
I saw some one asking on whitemane for a layer today and thought they were mistaken. Maybe blizzard is scuffing our realms?
My first guess would be increased population during the time(s) you’re noticing it.
Layers arent needed, they only promote bad behavior and server stacking.
Layers are literally the Classic team’s bread and butter. We have always had layers in Classic. They spent a pretty significant portion of their resource budget developing technology that would allow for single servers to scale, and layers play a big part in that.
Like them or not, they are certainly not going away.
Layers were removed in 23 by unanimous request.
There is no need to activate them.

Its 10pm here, 5am on Whitemane. Why are there layers? This reminds me of when Yojamba had layers with less than 20 people playing and we couldn’t even see each other in Orgrimmar despite being the only 3 people there.

I admit. I like Kaivax and he’s handled being “the messenger” pretty well. Not an easy or always fun job but he’s cool.
He’s a prot spec, smart feller.
He’s not wrong but not sure if that was the reason. When SOD or Hardcore dropped in fall 2023 layering went away on classic era. It was around most of 2023 (maybe late 2022 on popular server like Whitemane ?) Mankrik and the clusters attached lost layering say November or October 2023 and now seemingly back
To be fair on classic era we still get brand new players who were not around in 2019-2021 OG Classic before TBC hit in June 2021 and they were also not around in 2023 when layering was popping until SOD/HC and our era getting the same UI as Wrath Classic.
I been around but still many new guilds and people pop up either. Difference is you use your ego to think everyone should know everything you know since you been around but you could of realized that with common sense (not AI) and teach new players. But alas you are the champion of the horde and I know we should bow to you.
