At least with war mode people have to get to an inn to turn it off. With flying they have to fly away. You at least won the objective. They had to leave.
In classic, they just hop layers and keep right on doing what they were doing!
We are on a PvP server for a reason, dev team.
PvP players don’t want war mode. But layering is war mode on steroids.
There won’t be anyone left by phase 2. Get rid of layering now.
Split the servers, let people Xfer with friends, I don’t care about my toon names when servers merge again. I care about the gameplay.
Layering is killing this gem of a game. We came here to get away from all the crap that is BFA including sharding, CRZ, war mode, common “rares”, shared taps, war mode, etc now its all here thanks to layering.
Stop it or watch your game die. Or is that the intent? Tell people - see you thought you did but you didn’t after all, come back to retail, since you can’t escape all the retail garbage anyway.

Last night on a pvp server I saw big wvpvp fights in Ashenvale, Barrens and Stonetalon. I haven’t seen so many Horde players in Barrens since 2006 when I rolled on a new server at the time.
Layering is a cancer on Classic. It can’t be removed fast enough.

I agree… just bought a sub for classic and was very surprised to hear about layering. I just heard about it, so I don’t know much about it, but it comes off as not much different from sharding, no?
Either way, somewhat disappointed, and I’m not even on a pvp server.
I hope this is still the plan. However it seems the longer they keep it around the more people that will become comfortable with it. We are no longer all packed into starting zones, there is NO reason to keep layering, except by dealing with the high server populations. But now we have free server transfers so this can be solved…
Remove layering, queues will skyrocket, people will transfer servers if they don’t want to wait in an insane queue to play. Done
