Layering actually ruins the game

Here’s hoping its only for a few weeks and not in higher level zones in any way shape or form. It will end up totally killing the economy, if it doesn’t end up causing a domino effect already just from being in temporarily. Having mobs/players despawn and pop in from no where also just feels bad from a gameplay perspective

I’m still waiting for an answer of how layering will be removed. If layering allows a server to have 10k concurrent players then what will happen if that only dips to 7k by the time phase 1 ends?

Well you notice how every streamer just goes silent and changes the subject when they get layered in the beta? That isn’t a good sign.

Simple.

If, at the end of Phase 1, servers are still too full to remove layering without massive queues, they’ll make an announcement, probably with a media blitz and press conference for good measure.

“WoW Classic was even more popular than we expected! We’re getting new servers online as fast as possible and opening free transfers from overpopulated servers.”

They will spin their failure into proof of their success.

Given that they’ve already stated they wanted to have as few servers as possible at the start, the plan seems pretty obvious.

Yea that’s a pretty likely scenario. I would prefer no layering and server mergers over layering and free xfers but there must be some $$$$$ reason why this isn’t happening.

The following is all my own conjecture:

My prediction is that everything is going to be OK. The layering will work smoothly. Players will be properly locked into a layer on their own server with other players from their own server causing fears about layer abuse to quelled. Within one month the people that realize they don’t like classic leveling will bail. Within two months the people who don’t want to do it all over again will bail. Finally the rest of us will be there to continue the story of the glorious classic World of Warcraft.

I predict that if the populations are too high come month two Blizzard will continue laying until their planned content phase 2. Upon reaching this second phase of content Blizzard will keep their promise of removing layering and offer new servers with free transfers to those who don’t want to wait in the newly epic login que times for their server.

I really wished they would have kept it how it was in Classic, layering is pretty bad. I used to have a good sense of how many people and who were where but now it feels like I’m playing a single player game with randoms who phase in and out. Really kills the whole community along with the economy/pvp issues.

I was so excited when i first heard about classic. I had no idea for a long while any of this was even a possibility, even though i hoped for it for a long time when they started to go down the path of retail WoW in late WotLK.
Sharding/CRZ/LFD/LFR, you name it. The moment this stuff got introduced, and they started to make “QoL” changes left and right, i knew WoW’s prime was over.

I really can’t stand any of those modern “solutions” even in retail, and to hear they will find their way into classic with layering really takes away a lot of excitement i’ve had initially about the game.
I was looking forward so much to being able to experience the only version of WoW i never got to play, and not just that… but do so from the birth of all the servers. How awesome would that be? I can’t even imagine.
If layering really is going to be it, all i can say is… what a shame. Especially for those who fought for it all these years, only to come back to be greeted by retail WoW tainted systems in what’s supposed to be vanilla.

May ruin your game.

Won’t ruin mine.

lol troll thread again seriously most of you complaining in this and many other treads you can tell did not even play original wow and seriously its a old game so who cares if its not 100 percent the same, you will never get the same fell anyway as you have done it before and played a lot better stuff since. For those that played archage and returned for the first new server a year later know this to be true first time round was awesome second time round when everyone know the ins and outs of the game was just lame.

I have achievements from doing stuff in 2007. I didnt play from release, but I did started playing like a year or so before tbc came out. I’ve also leveled 1-60 on pretty much every major private server. I’ve seen layering first hand on the beta (only stress test, but still, it was noticeable). I’ve played the game. It doesn’t feel good. There’s also videos that have been made showing exactly how it can (and will be) abused for personal gain in regards to gathering professions.

Its just something that isn’t necessary. Or at the least not necessary after a week or two. If it exists in higher level zones it will be a change that has a noticeable impact on the game as a whole.

I quit BfA due to the excess CRZ and sharding, I looked at Classic to get my WoW fix without all the bs systems in place that current WoW has. If it goes through the way it is i will say goodbye to this soulless company for good. It seems Blizzard only cares about their pockets as of late, screw the player base as long as their shareholders are happy. WTB the original dev team back without the influence of Activision as well thanks, i want my hobby back that was WoW.

I am hopeful that this will be taken care of before the game launches, but the last stress test I was doing the second part of War with the Scarlet Crusade and had a zealot halfway dead when it and two players fighting a mob next to me just faded away. When the new layer faded in I was surrounded and was killed by three mobs. lol I forgot to add that part.

I predict you have high hopes. With the inability to completely shut off CRZ on rp realms and layering having people from multiple test realms show up on one realm. I think Layering will work anything but smoothly. For the most part it wont be so bad but i would expect to see people from other realms every now and then.

Heh, just once? The first stress test I had that happen sooooooo many times. 1 almost dead mob phase out and 2 new ones phase in. I reported it everytime so hopefully they get it ironed out.

That’s what I’m afraid of. I don’t want sharding to work; I want it gone.

Layering/sharding is gonna be in at this point. WE should be hoping for it to be working smoothly over anything else. I agree though it not being in at all would be best.

And it shouldn’t be.

Nah, I actually hope it’s horrible so more people hate it and ask for it to be removed as soon as possible.

Preferably in the beta, so Blizzard removes it before launch.

Well its been horrible in the beta(read:stress test) from my experience.

I like the cut of your jib.

Yeah bloating the economy will probably give blizzard the excuse to add in wow tokens like they did in wod even though it was probably because of the lost profit.

People need to push hard about this whole layer hop or let it burn so that more people will be turned off from blizzard products.
Don’t forget to click the reason why you are unsubbing if its an option is layer feeling bad. Let it be like the pre wrath event ending earlier because of cry babies.
