Layer Hopping now has Internal Cooldown

Layering randomizes the populations of multiple server-sized layers. It has the same impact on community that CRZ does.

Needs clarification. Through no fault of my own, I may be on a different layer than friends/guildies. If I leave a pug after a dungeon and get shunted, I get a cooldown. Friend/guildmember then invites me for a dungeon run and… What? Am I screwed? I can’t group with friends until some arbitrary cooldown expires?

Anything that interferes with playing with friends (or even other people) is worse than someone getting extra resources.

That’s what they’re saying on Reddit. As soon as you start doing something in the new layer-- get a PVP kill, earn some XP-- the CD timer starts.

This is incorrect.

Nothing wrong with that. PvP shouldn’t be around at all, so people avoiding it isn’t a problem.

Protip: World PvP wouldn’t have died so much in the retail game if people had really wanted it in the first place.

You just join the group and zone into the dungeon. You will see them in there because it is a different instance than those that are layered.

This is not true, and there are way too many ways to explain why.

The problem is that it is not Vanilla-like. Its understandable that people want to take the easy road when possible. But it does become a detriment to the spirit of the game.

Maybe make the first hop start a timeout of 5 mins for the next, but only allow 2 hops per half hour? So you could hop twice in 5 minutes and 1 second, but then would have to wait for 24:59 before you could hop again. A balance would have to be struck between what might become inconvenient for a regular player and what would deter an exploiter.

The spirit of the PvE game that is WoW?

Would you rather have many low populated servers when many people from BfA try Classic and go back to BfA?

Respectfully disagree. Take two situations as an example.

A server has exactly 3001 people. Does layering give us two layers, the first with 3,000 and the second with one? Does it give us two layers with an even amount, such as the first having 1501, and the second having 1500? Neither is desirable from a community standpoint.

LOL, “Dynamic” Layering :upside_down_face:

I would agree with this train of thought were Classic to launch with only 3001 players, but it will launch with far more than that.

By the time those kinds of discrepancies show themselves layering will already be gone.

Wouldn’t say great… very few people like it but it will be tolerable for the first phase.

Care to explain? I provided a brief explanation as to why it does impact the community, and a much more extensive explanation in other threads.

“This is incorrect” is an anemic comeback.

I think it’s great because it will make for a tolerable starting area experience.

I’m sick of explaining the same points to you people. Go use the search bar.

Then why are you here? If you can’t be bothered to back up your claims, then don’t be bothered to respond with pointless replies.
