It’s been a while since we just got a showcase cinematic. It felt more like Vanilla and TBCs cinematics.

Legion sort of had it with Gul’dan finding Illidan’s body. But it was way shorter then this. They really went all out with the cinematic budget.

It does give a sense of adventure and going into the unknown. Shadowlands almost comes off as a reimagining of Warcraft in a sense. Yeah, it’s the ‘realm of death’ but everything is so lively and unique, it really could just be a new continent or world to experience. It’s a shame though that the lead in so weak, Sylvanas capturing a bunch of characters only for them to be freed shortly after.

yea thanks for reminding me… there is something… i dont know its not the same feeling, this one is showcasing the covenants, its what imo the blizzcon trailer shouldve been, whereas the gul dan one was confirming illidan’s appearance, it feels as if they know they screwed the pooch and had to make this one.
Am I really the only one that is Unimpressed by this? It seems like a stupid idea to waste money on the Ad budget to just show off “Hey guys we made the covenant guys into CGI creatures” I’d rather have something exciting like idk sylvanas and the jailer talk or something, walking then coming upon arthas or whatever.
(I mean they will ruin arthas by the end of the story).

I don’t know about anyone else, but yeah. A cinematic with Sylvanas talking with the jailer, while obviously very lore important. would to me be a third Lightdamned expansion cinematic with Sylvanas in it.
So far just even thinking of it in theory, I find the more “into the unknown, Adventure!” cinematic of a Shadowlands showcase far better lol.

I think by itself it’s fine. If you divorce it from BFA and look at it on its own, I think it looks like a cool trailer that would be a neat setting for adventures. It’s just the whole “going here because of Sylvanas” in the background that drags it down for me, but that’s not the cinematic’s fault.

I get the impression that the developers are really proud of the Shadowlands, like the vision behind it and how creative they can be, wanting to show it off more. But yeah, it is derivative of the Afterlives shorts that already came out.
I feel the same.
Like don’t get me wrong, the cinematic was beautiful they did an amazing job, but as far as building hype it didn’t. It is quite literally just a CGI cinematic of stuff we have already seen… it isn’t like it was a cool story one like the Saurfang cinematics were.
But dear god no, I don’t want anymore Sylvanas CGI cinematics, can we please get some for other characters that aren’t Sylvanas and Anduin?
