Latest DDOS Attack Sheds Light on a Bigger Problem

I’d like a personal fone call from the tech guys giving me up to date details on what’s happening. Is that too much to ask?

funny the server status page says all is up

I think the issue is with the login server itself. I was able to connect to my realm but got booted off and can’t get past the login server.

they did

I mean the bigger problem is a multi billion dollar is being DDoSed by 15 year olds. Imagine being able to buy all the resources in the world you’re still getting outplayed by someone who doesn’t have a GED/HS Diploma let alone a college degree and you get pooped on.

They’re cowards.

They hide from fans, they hide from fear and most of all…

…they hide from consequences.

Blizzard Entertainment is not the company I loved as a kid.

It’s a sad husk of what it once was and honestly seeing that they’re being bogged down by a DDoS… it’s not satisfying but it’s also not surprising (doubt they have a great security talent pool).

Just sad to see people fail over and over because they’re greedy.

I guess I’ll summarize this topic as the real issue is lost on the masses.

A DDOS or any issue that affects customers in a negative way should garner a large CS damage control response. Not an obscure post on ONE forum.

It should be on ALL forums. Maximum presence.

I think this guy came closest to what’s going on when it comes to community relations.

That’s a sad state of affairs.

Don’t gotta go home but you can’t stay here!

They might not have the current ability to figure out which country the attack is “coming” from. That stated, most of the attack is coming from bots in a lot of locations (already compromised devices). So this makes it even harder to pin it down. In short they need to “outperform” the attack with more bandwidth which is very difficult. If you look on some of the other posts, the attacker’s handle has been documented, if it is correct. So it matters not where it is coming from.

Legit one of the few situations their usually underwhelming “we know, thanks.” response would actually be the best thing they could say.

I just love it when stuff like this happens, It’s a good time to take note of who has no idea how servers work.

You seem to think community managers have something to do with server functions.

OMG someone must have got their feelings hurt in a pvp match or classic was just to hard for their little brains to work with so the only way for them t get back is to set a DDOS in motion, but what losers that have to go to this level to stop others from enjoying the game…wish we could trace where it started and blow up their damn house and only hope they are in it…lol

This is why they need to get it fixed ASAP. Because it brings even more turds to the forums to post about the most ridiculous garbage.

Where the DDOS attack is originating from is not pertinent info to the player base, and people should rest assured knowing if there are issues with the servers, Blizz will be on it. CMs don’t need to post in every thread, said it’s being worked on. That’s it.

I wouldn’t trust Lore to go anywhere near a server.

this was probably just aimed at Soda and Asmond to keep them from reaching 60
