Ive had 28-32 home MS and around 30 world MS. Yesterday late afternoon Comcast texted me that they were in the area to fix a “network performance issue” in the neighborhood so I may lose internet off and on. Didnt lose internet.
Since then and its “completion”, the home and world MS has spiked to 65-90ms. It comes and goes. So I may sit that high for awhile then im suddenly back down to 28-30. Something clearly changed since yesterday.
I am not savvy with running tests but wanted to run a tracer/ping test and post it for folks to see if there are any data loss along the way. Blizz used to have a step by step guide about how to do this, what to download, etc but I dont see it anymore.
open cmd as admin, type “tracert 8.8.8.8” (without the quotes) and hit enter. Maybe find out the IP address of the WoW servers and replace the 8.8.8.8 with that (8.8.8.8 is google dns server I believe).
The ping displayed in game is the average over a few minutes, not a live feed.
Correct, Blizzard changed their troubleshooting methods and retired those support docs. They no longer review connection data from third-party applications.
All current connection troubleshooting methods are available here:
All said, if the problem started after Comcast made changes, then it sounds like you need to consult them about said changes.
