Hi i play on NA region but im from the UK, my ISP is virgin media.
I didnt have issues a week or so ago, but now every time i log on, my ms will be 100~ for both, and it will randomly spike up to 1000-2500ms (in dornogal). I can move around but nobody else does, or they are running in place. I cant even exit the game with the button, i would have to alt f4 to get out. and it doesnt fix with a /reload. After a while, sometimes 10 seconds in mythic, the lag will stop and everything happens at once. but, my ms doesnt go down. it stays super high but i can manage to play, until yet again another moment of lag happens. right now im in undermine with 115ms home, 150ms world. but i just know if i start a mythic or a raid, it will go insanely high and not drop unless i leave the game or probably roam around the world for a hot 30 minutes. but now i opened a chest and my home ms spiked to 600ms?? i really dont get it.
what tests can i run to know if its me, (my ISP, routing or whatever to the servers), or an issue with the new patches? Should i test out using a vpn to see if the issue goes away?
I’ll also add I did a fresh install of the game and I don’t use addons.
My internet connection is through ethernet, however not to the router, but a sort of mesh wifi “pod” my ISP provided (speeds of 650mbps, with 24ms).
My main toon which is having these issues is on the Azgalor realm. I tried using my other toon on Moon guard realm, it logged in fine, and i thought it wouldnt lag so i was gonna write up an update comment, but now the home latency spiked up to 1500~. I’m not sure what part of the game is ‘home’, because when i wanna do quests and talk to npcs, nothing happens. Every time after a few minutes without failure, the home ms will spike up, and then a little later the world ms will follow through as well.
it stopped happening right now out of nowhere. commenting to time how long until it spikes up lol (14:29 for me)
I also have been having issues intermittently as of a few days ago. I’ve had a few other friends have similar issues around the same times I do, but its hard to tell as a lot of other people I play with do not have the lag issues at all.
Randomly throughout dungeons though I’ll spike and lose 3-4 globals then go back to normal. My ping spikes are never really much higher than 50ms gap, but it is odd as this started happening after all the news about the DDOS attacks.
Yeah everything was going fine yesterday after it seemed fixed, but then i log on today and its back to high latency again, everyone in place but i can move in my raid, and same thing outside in undermine.
Edit: i really dont know what to do lol? its so odd how it can work sometimes and sometimes not work, but my internet connection is fine? and its so odd how it will go to 1k ms for both, then the world ms drops to an ok range of 110-180ms , but the home stays at around 1.5k ms ? it wont lag for a bit but the ms is the same, then boom a big lag spike of nobody moving but me.
I’m having the same issues here on Hellscream server, latency was fine up until about a week ago, and now can’t play most of the time due to the lag, and it’s extremely bad in raid.
I’m from New Zealand, playing on a US server (Wild Growth), and since about the same time I’ve been getting 280-340 ms instead of the usual 150 (although it’s constant, rather than spiking). It definitely seems that something is broken somewhere!
Like i really dont get it. I log on and everything seems fine but then the home ms spikes up to 1000 and i cant talk to npcs unless i wait a long time for the quest window to pop up. and i also cant exit the game through the button. its frustrating.
Just today ive been noticing constant latency between 1000-2000ms. BG’s are unplayable. I dont think its my internet connection as Okla is showing 32ms and 125mb download speeds.
Yeah its really sad because I was just really starting to enjoy running M+ and raids but its quite unplayable when it freezes and the latency is constantly rising and lowering and rising yet again.
