Recent increases in latency only when playing WoW, speed test pings just fine and WinMTR looks ok to me too? ISP and router manufacturer also said everything looks good on their end. Any thoughts? I have even repaired the client, re installed all addons disabled all addons, only a recent issue.
Speed test does not actually tell anything but bandwidth and generally its not very useful. WinMTR is really out of date and does not support IPV 6 .
Have you tested with a VPN or a secondary ISP
I have not tried either, just find it so weird randomly to start
There have been several issues with ISP peering partners lately. And bell has been having issues. Many of the other threads have fixed the latency with a VPN. If a VPN fixes your issue, then its Routing or a troubled node causing it
ok, i will give that a try, thanks!
my game keeps freezing to pings fine no discord or other internet issues in game world ms spiking too and just lagging randomly for 20 seconds
VPN definitely at least right now seems to have fixed the issue, do i need to address this with the ISP or anything else i can do?
Same latency myself all of a sudden after patch. Im glad its not just me
If a VPN fixes the issue then its most likely a routing issue or One of your ISP’s peering partners. I would reach out to your ISP and try to get the issue escalated
Blizzard also has its own ISP, could the problem be on Blizzard’s side? Is it always on the client’s side?
Can we say that Blizzard’s network has high reliability despite so many DDoS attacks recently damaging many people’s games?
Even with a VPN you are still going to still most likely connect to. The same IP address for that server the only thing the VPN does is change the route it takes to get there. One of the reasons why wow is affected more by connection issue is a lot of the game was moved server side to curb cheating. In wraith and before cheating was rampant and fairly easy to do as more of the game was client side
