Latency issue since latest patch

I’ve been having random latency issues since the latest patch…before this I haven’t experienced issues. I did the suggested fixes (scan and rebuild, clearing cache, getting rid of add-ons, resetting my interface, etc.). So far nothing has changed. I did even recently change my modem as well to see if that was an issue. I have WinMTR logs during the periods when I experience the lag, at three different times. Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated, thank you!

Wired? Wireless? It looks like you are getting 1% loss on the 2nd hop and it’s carrying through to all the hops. You do get 1% on the first hop in the 2nd WinMTR but you have played quite a bit in that one. Even still 1% loss while playing is still a big deal.

Have you contacted your ISP about the issue at all? You said you got a new modem but was it a router or modem? Do you have a cable modem/router combo and that is what you changed? Is the issue happening all the time or only during certain hours when you play like in the evening/morning between certain times?

I’m wired. I haven’t contacted my ISP yet, it’s Comcast. I get the 1% all the time I play WoW and I’ve actually run more logs than those three. I do have one of the combo boxes from comcast. The issue only happens in the evenings since that is when I play. The only other streaming service I use for gaming is PS Now, but I don’t notice any lag when playing games off that. If it comes to it, I’m happy to schedule a tech to come to my place from Comcast. What else could it be if there is anything else I should try before scheduling a tech?

I had the same problem in the evenings because my ISP oversold the nodes in the area and there was tons of lag between times when people were off work evenings and early mornings. It doesn’t hurt to have them come and give your equipment a once over.

You can also make sure your network card has the latest drivers and your computer has the latest drivers of everything because they will try to blame your equipment too lol. When you get these issues make sure you run a speed test when the issue is very bad see if you get any slowdowns on that.

I am having the exact same issue as your, with comcast as well. I am curious to know which state you live in and I hope you do not mind me asking.I live in Louisiana. I had a tech out twice already. They ran a new line and basically told me they cant find anything wrong. It is super frustrating. I do not know how to get any of the logs you have been linking and I am at a loss now. I feel like I can barely play the game now.

I’m in California and had Comcast come out this morning. They that the connectors within my walls were old, so they changed those out. I’ll have to wait till this evening to test really for drop outs. The tech did tell me if the drop out happens again in the evening what it could be is the cold. Their box by the street is supposed to have amplifiers when the weather changes but it could be failing. He was helpful, and gave me his direct cell that if I see it again drop out at night to call him and he’ll check the street side box. For now we are both hoping that changing my connectors in the walls was the fix.

Good luck. I hope it gets better for you. I am at a complete loss at how to procede from here. I can barely raid with my guild anymore bc the delay when casting is so bad. So frustrating…

I am having the same issue right now. All morning my latency has been 23 ms. Out of nowhere 250ms. Restarted router, restarted computer, even unplugged all the cables and plugged back in. The funny part is, is only blizzard games that’s giving me high ping…

Having lag problems as well, 300 ms world and home. I use Bell Fibe Canada and live in Quebec.

This would be the 3rd time since BFA launch Bell ISP has had issues connecting to Blizzard Servers. Neither company will admit fault and it’ll randomly get fixed within a day or two.

Well this explains the reason why my my latency suddenly spiked up in the last 2 hours. Bell :confused:

It’s been way more times than that. The problem happens every month. Its extremely frustrating.

Unfortunately this has been an ongoing issue for months now. It was really bad around two months ago but seemed to get somewhat fixed. Then today I login to see 300+ ms in all zones/instances.
