Latency has been going on since january, please fix asap!

last december, just days before Winter Veil, my old laptop went kaput, and i had to wait until january 25th to get my hands on a replacement laptop, and lemme tell ya, the wait, was HELL! a LIVING. HELL! and as thrilled as i was to return to playing WoW, there’s been this one little thing that has been making my WoW experience, annoying and frustrating, the high latency spikes. i’m on a low-pop server, and i’m getting latency spikes between 375 ms to 2250 ms, and i noticed in the forums that other players have been posting about the latency problems, so blizzard… when are you folks gonna finally fix the server latency issues?

Have you checked with your isp to make sure they haven’t tinkered with the routing for internet traffic. Are you using a wired connection? Tried from another location. Have you done any troubleshooting?

So, it all worked with the old laptop, but not the new one?

That would point more at the laptop than anything else. Network drivers, wifi bands, wifi congestion can all change and impact your connection. Have you checked any of those things?

I’ve noticed it too this past week and I’m on the same PC, hardwired in same internet, tried with all addons off… I hit 500 plus latency which is like a 5 second input lag

Well 500 ms is pretty bad for a broadband connection. Which that’s half a second. 1000ms is 1 second.

But first go through the basics.

Are your drivers updated?

How’s the quality of your physical media be it fiber or coaxial or Ethernet—btw I mean checking all points.

Check for fraying or any other physical damage but also check each connection point is secure.

Examples - the coax is tightly screwed in to your cable modem and then the other end is secure at your wall jack. Then is the Ethernet pushed in on the network jack at your computer and on your router.

Always check the simple stuff first then troubleshooting up to more involved symptoms.

Did anything change I your environment? New router? New ISP? New computer?

Did you change configurations in your router?

Did you test connection speed in other apps or games? Are you sure it’s a blizzard/ wow issue?

I haven’t seen pings over 100ms in years. Right now, I’m at 85ms world and 30ms home. However, combat actions, looting, quest turn-in, etc. lag often feels more like 3000-5000 ms.
