Not sure if this pertains only to OCE players but since yesterday I’ve noticed that my latency connecting to any form of pvp - blitz, bg’s, arenas etc all are giving me around 375ms as opposed to the usual ~250ms I’d get when I’m normally placed on a US realm.
Not sure if anyone else has been affected by this, but it doesn’t appear to be affecting anyone else in my games (who are almost all from US realms) as noone has mentioned it.
Have only noticed it happening since yesterday when some of the battlenet sites went down.
Hopefully blizz sees this post this is happening both ways I am an NA player tried to do some keys with OCE players and I went from the normal 100-150ms I would with OCE in the past to 300+ as well as game crashes.
Interesting that it’s happening in reverse as well, atleast makes me think a routing issue has occured for some reason.
I’ve made a post on the tech support forum so hoping there will be some help
When doing a Tracert there’s a massive jump in MS at a hop with one of the Telstraglobal nodes 203.50.13.94, You might find the same deal when typing the following into CMD.
Tracert 137.221.105.2
Funnily enough the Central US servers which were usually ~280ms are now ~220min instead and are a much better ping connection for me at least right now.
Yeah have noticed the same things, huge spike at the lumentech node, though as someone else pointed out there also seems to be issues with some of telstras nodes on the way to the US connection too, with MS jumping up to ~190
I have also noticed that the Central servers are a better connection now, also giving me around ~220ms connection the last few days.
I have a case open with telstra and they have apparently escalated it to specialists, but I’m still a little sceptical they will fix anything.
The PVP Instance you are in can be in any region associated with the players you’re with. This has been a problem for a very long time, and can give you really nasty latency.
Example if you’re in Aus and Q up for BG’s / Arena and then maybe 1 player on the other team is in NA, there is a chance that even tho most of the players are from Aus, that the PVP server could be hosted in NA anyway.
The inverse has also been true, where a single player is from Aus but everyone else is in NA and the server is hosted in Aus giving near everyone terrible latency for PVP use.
Problem is there is no good way to solve this problem for Aus players; if you’re wanting to play VS aus players only and be on local only servers your Q’s for PVP will be longer, but if you want to play with NA players then Latency will be worse frequently.
Until latency free internet exists this will continue to be a problem for gaming world wide; especially in Areas where a game is less popular for its varied reasons.
TL;DR: No good solution presently exists here other than the trade off of Long Q’s for Aus players.
Any updates in this space, connecting with any US region player is giving me 400 world MS, unplayable in a PVP scenario - this was prior 150 world MS which is an easy trade off for timing.
this is currently in a worse state than usual, i am reporting a community of 200+ pvp players on the oceanic region experiencing atleast DOUBLE the usual world MS connecting with NA players in instances.
Nothing still, was told I would receive a call when they had updates but nothing for the last 1-2 weeks.
I did contact them a few days ago to follow up and they asked me to fill out a callback form.
I haven’t properly looked into it but I did see Telstra have some “Telstra Connect” service which might allow you to choose your routing but it could be irrelevant I’m not sure.
Only thing I can think of at this point is telling them you are gonna consider going with another provider if the issue isn’t fixed soon, that usually seems to get their attention.
