Latency and Lag appearing nightly

For roughly the last 2 weeks I have been getting the same thing every night during primetime 5CST-10ish CST. World latency hops up to 250-2500 after hovering around 25-40 all day up till then. I can do world boss/raid/mythic plus all I want during the day just fine with perfect performance but then something happens and it all goes downhill at night for several hours. Tonight it was 530ish-9PM where it was unplayable. I live about 100 miles from Chicago and play on a central server located in the Chicago Datacenter.

During this high latency period I can play Wrath Classic, League of Legends, Apex Legends with absolutely no problems. No stutters or lag. Netflix, Youtube, Twitch, Speedtests are all unaffected when this is occurring as well.

Here is a trace from a previous days issues. On hop 8 you can see the big spike on its first hop after entering blizzards network on the previous hop 7. I will run some WIN

Usually when this is occurring your ISP is overloaded when people are online during peak hours. Those are the golden hours for your ISP. Had this issue and my ISP ignored me for 6 months stating it was my problem, not theirs. Come to find out my ISP oversold one of their higher-tier packages which caused the problem. I used a VPN to get around the trouble nodes during the time frame of the overloaded nodes from my ISP.

I wasted my ISP’s time by making them send a tech out every week sometimes twice if they showed up during nonpeak hours to troubleshoot. Up to you what you want to do about it you are paying for the service.

My friends and I were just talking about this, and we are experiencing the same thing. We’ll be fine throughout the day and then randomly through peak hours, we’ll run into some kind of lag with no explanation.

Back during Shadowlands, whenever the world boss was pulled in the Maw, Korthia would lag horribly. People through forum investigation found out the only people suffering through this issue were on the Chicago data center servers.

It appears this issue is coming back and becoming worse because DF has more people playing it than SL did, by the looks of it. It makes doing higher end content very frustrating because there’s no agency over when this comes up.

Is Chicago’s data server just experiencing issues?

I’m having the exact same issue. The only difference is that I am able to connect and play during 9-12 pm EST. Outside of that time window it’s unplayable. After a couple of minutes of logging in, the game world just froze.

Same here during peak time on Oceanic realms.

Not just myself but other players have commented in chat during BGs and Arena.

Can we get some kind of response on this one? If the Chicago data center is having issues, which it did throughout all of Shadowlands when WB’s were pulled, it’d be nice to know.
