In the past months we have received notifications from Blizzard indicating that the use of our local LATAM currencies will start being effective instead of paying in USD.
While this may seem like a good alternative, it actually caused that the prices of the subscription went above of what we used to pay in USD.
As an example for Colombia (my local country) the monthly subscription of $14.99 USD was equivalent to around $58.000 Colombian Pesos with the current conversion rate, however they are currently charging $62.300 COP (about 6.5% more of what we used to pay), and it actually went down in the previous weeks from a $75.000 COP charge.
While the current difference may not be that much, if we consider that the minimum wage for Colombia is around $250 USD Monthly and our currency is highly devaluated it doesn´t really make sense that we have to pay more than people who live in the US who have higher income.
If Blizzard really tried to apply the change taking into account the purchase power or cost of living of the LATAM countries, the new subscription prices should be lower, not higher.
