Last Names and Apostrophes

Do you know how many locked out names would suddenly become available if a last name was part of the identifier? So two people having the name Tom wouldn’t be an issue if they had different last names! Not to mention, I just want a last name! Titles don’t count. They never have and are purely cosmetic.

Anyone can have the title “The Explorer” and it does not change the availability of a name lost to the storage of long gone accounts. It maybe a difficult thing to program, idk. But it’s something that should be considered! Also, we need to be able to use apostrophes! How many races use one in their names and players aren’t given that option?

Also we can name battle pets, but not mounts… We should fix that!

Last names, apostrophes, and tighten restrictions on how long players can sit on reserved names.

Do all that and selecting names on servers like MG, Stormrage, and WRA becomes much more palatable.

Space, apostrophes and hyphens would really help people out on full and locked realms.

Funny you should mention lockouts. From my understanding now they don’t lift them anymore. They used to do the expac after but now they are quietly permalocked.

Elves, trolls, orcs, humans and I think even tauren use them. There’s no reason to be restrictive to a specific group

If last names were to become a thing, I hope they would be optional because I’d hate to log in one day and be forced to come up with new names for all my characters.

I’ve opened a few tickets on the matter because I used to have a name for a character and it was taken by another. But then they stopped playing ages ago so I’d ask about lockouts at least once or twice an expac. Last I heard they used to unlock them but now they don’t. I guess they’re hoping on returning players? But that’s just speculation.

ROFL are you the guy that’s been harassing people in the name trading threads on both WRA and MG?

They release names every two xpacs, so basically every 4 years. The problem is all someone has to do is sub once to reset that timer.

They did one last week because I got a few names I’ve been begging for for years.

Honestly I could live with that compromise. It would open up more customization

Uh, no. Pretty sure more than one person playing WoW has wanted names that have been taken by unplayed characters or inactive accounts.

Really? Well that’s news to me. At any rate, a last name option would certainly remedy the need to even ask about name resets

Support! Allow us one apostrophe and one hyphen per name.

Allow us both a first name and a last name, and the ability to display one, the other, or both at our discretion.
