No mention of any nerfs throughout the entire PTR, and blizz sneaks in a -25% nerf to ES, -25% to Wake, and -40% to WoG. No buffs or class redesign to make up for these dumpster nerfs. Ret is now completely dead in PvP, and I’m actually baffled that these last minute stealth nerfs were somehow approved?
Yeaaaaaaah, im definately unsubbing now. These nerfs are a complete joke. Not going to pay 15$/mo so you can continue serving me a worse product week in and week out. Literally 0 reason to play RET over any other dps, and sorry but some visual changes just aren’t going to cut it.

Nerfs were deserved, rets were literally 2 shotting people. If they added back Judgement of the Light or snare removal it would be 100% justified. However, I think the nerfs were a bit too much in comparison to the lack of mobility. It’s either the team you’re fighting has an endless snare and you do minimal damage all game, or they have no snare and you mongo someone to death.

Were these nerfs for PVP only?

Here I was thinking everything was okay going into the new patch. Now i find out today that my Ret paladin has been gutted. With my lack of mobility in BFA my big burst windows were the only thing that made me viable. Now Blizzard decides to majorly nerf one of the most under represented specs on the ladder.
Yes, I’m quite salty about it.
Ret has been my main since ive played the game. I actually felt somewhat competitive how things were so far in BFA, even with the lack of movement. I fear this will be the nail in the coffin unless they give us something else.

Just play Prot for PvP. Was in a better spot than Ret and got crazy buffs to thier broken OP heals. You have better mobility and can immune poly/cc with steed to keep dmg or full heal a team mate with 100k instant heals. Also you can block spells even those nasty Gpyros.
- Protection
- Hand of the Protector healing reduced by 40% when cast on friendly players that are engaged in combat with enemy players.
It looks like it got nerfed in PvP, while I saw the buff to make it based on your target’s missing health %. But yeah just pointing out it got nerfed in PvP.

Maybe the new azerite trait that deals some more dmg will compensate(a bit), that trait should be live when the servers are up so we can check it out
The way that ret is designed, a nerf to burst is not made up for by a buff to sustained, even if the change was 1:1
There is literally no argument that RET was made ANY better off in 8.1, atleast from a pvp standpoint, 8.1 was a disastrous nerf to ret pvp

Not denying your claims, but is there anything to show this since we can’t really get in game right now lol
I didn’t c these changes in the patch notes, is this true? Rets 1v1 potential is the sole reason I continue to play mine. Will probably unsubscribe if this is true. I’m already on the fence. The play style is bland. Rotation need a rework.

This makes no real sense. Rets burst was payoff for being able to land it without getting snared/kited. I don’t get it at all…

Trust me buddy, we all feel the same way.

I found it, wasn’t reflected on mmo champions patch notes. RIP
Well, looks like I’ll be going holy for paladin PvP from now on, thanks Blizzard.

Supposedly too, according to the EU forums, Avenger’s Might got stealth nerfed by 50% too, soooooo.
Confirmed by those testing the current PTR in the Hammer of Wrath discord. Apparently AM is nerfed by 50% on the current PTR.
I don’t understand why Blizzard would seek to gut Ret completely. It wasn’t like we were some overpowered God Tier performers in any comp/setting…
