I understood the ancient civilization around Uldir, and how Draenei came from space…in a space ship and so have advanced technology (and still use swords and shields) but dropping tech to be primitive made a semblance of sense in the story. A stretch, but we got to use ship powers later in Legion so, hey, yay for technology advancement in a world of magic.
Right, so Zerith Mortis bothers me that there’s things in the spirit realm, because that’s what all of this shadowlands expansion is based on, that use guns and lasers. It’s the spirit realm. Afterlife. Why are there guns and lasers and more importantly…
Why am I killing a massive boss and creatures with guns and all I loot from them is scrap cloth and maybe a medieval, magical sword or staff? No gun. No laser.
Not that I want guns and lasers in my [not steam punk] world of warcraft immersion, but this equipment use in this NPC expansion really has me stumped where technology is implemented in a medieval fantasy world/realm.

Man, I hate with every fiber of my soul that they have forced “pistol shot” and “between the eyes” on Rogues as firearms. Imagine telling hunters they could only use guns. There’d be a revolt.
Firearms in a fantasy setting are always on the brink of ruining it IMO. And lasers? Lasers are just the unchecked exacerbation of chaos escaping good creative constraints. Now we have to go expansion after expansion writing the Vindicar and Jaina’s Millenium Falcon out of action in order to avoid suspension of belief.

You can get a pew-pew laser in Mechagon, does that bother you?

I’m more bothered that precisely zero has advanced from before Illidan’s imprisonment to after he got out. 10,000 years and we’re still making plate armour? Pull the other one.

actually we only have rifles, because we can’t use 2 guns like Dante from Devil May Cry or B.J. Blazkowicz in Wolfenstein.
that’s why there is no versatility and details in those type of weapons, and please don’t talk about Survival hunter and Outlaw Rogue hidden pistols, that has nothing to do with spell and details of new guns.
This does not really bother me. There’s also an art of Magic that may seem to not fit in neither Science Fiction nor Fantasy but sometimes fit in both.

Realistically it’s weird that none of the main characters have had an existential crisis knowing that this garbage is their eventual eternal afterlife.
But yeah, one of those suspension of disbelief things. At least if we get tinkers they will likely have laser beams.

that includes other than magic technology, but the community would laugh in our face for not wanting to include any JRPG concept knowing that Ulduar has this concept.
huh… stupids.

In the RTS warcraft games of old, was there an abundance of technology as well? I mean, purchasing warcraft 3 remake gave a wagon with spikes as reward.
I like the blending of this “technomancy” in concept. I even read Spelljammer books as a kid a few times, which bridged this a little bit. A far cry from Asimov’s books, true. A juxtaposition either way.
As a player who has grown with World of Warcraft since vanilla, I’ve truly enjoyed the gnomes and engineering applications of technology in the game. But my head can’t wrap around guns in the afterlife.

lets just use “head cannon” and say the weapons they have are user locked. thats what SB is. it binds the item to their soul. and as such, will no function in anyone else’s hands.
like, it’d be cool if we had the gun they fired being used as a mace though. “it wont shoot, but i can still hit things with it”
There are also robots! If you miss it in the last few expansions there are also mechanical animals. Cyborg humanoid in last expansions. I say the tech has been on a steady uphill increase. Cata shows you just how high tech goblins are and in BFA shown their growth in technology.

Imagine bm duel wielding two guns fighting with his pets. An assassin with two guns blazing away. Fury war going all gun and attitude. Yummy!
Pew pew pew! Oh Bernadette, stop that!

We haven’t had laser pointers in the game since wod.
in warcraft 2…not really. outside of subs, giant turtles, zeppelins, sappers and flying machines that was really it.

Honestly the entire zone feels like somebody played wild star and thought hey this is really cool.
If they want to turn wow into wildstar then go all the way and do it because wild star was a lot better outside of catering to the top minority hardcore raiders
Who said it was laser? Might be a soul gun
I think it’s like the Harry Potter setting, sure you see someone using the internet from time to time, but when you can use magic for pretty much anything else, why use technology?
A good time to discuss bringing back ‘throwable’ weapons, where style of weapon you put in could affect animation and sound (so shooting gun or throwing a shuriken).
