Lariat question

I almost have enough primals to craft a 405 lariat. Will need to find a crafter. I’ve seen some people wearing lariats with only two sockets and some with three?

Is there a reason some only have two sockets? Obviously I want to make sure the one I craft has three sockets

The extra sockets come from a separate item you apply to the neck after creation. It’s called tiered medallion setting. The quality matters in that to add a third slot to the neck you’ll need a rank 3 version.

Don’t have to worry about any of the sockets when you get it crafted.

Just like Jim said, dont worry about it during crafting. the gems slots are added after. more than likely the people you see with 2 slots, added the slots in the wrong order. here is the instructions from wowhead comments:
