Lapis Luzli Mining

I’ve been trying to find Lapis on Pandaira with no luck. I found a link showing me where to mine but all I find is Ghost Ore. Can somebody please tell me if the lapis is mixed in with ghost ore, or when I click on the yellow dot it says Lapis? Or maybe my mining skill has to be higher to spot Lapis. Any help will be useful.

You need an item called the “Ancient Pandaren Mining Pick,” to mine jewels from ore in Pandaria.

I think you need to be mining lower than level 48.

LOL this is all info that was not listed on the sites I found. Ok I go look for pick. My Mining is maxed at 75. No lapis in AH else I would have bought all.

The pick is a treasure found in a mine in the Jade Forest. It takes a bit to spawn.

Ok I have the Ancient Pandaren Mining Pick and spent the last few hrs getting no where. I have just about reached the end of my limit with this game. Why the hell does Blizzard make the easy things such a pain in the asss. I mined over 100 Ghost ore lodes and got nothing but ghost ore. I traveled all the places on the maps I could find with no luck. I just want to make some jeweled panthers for people that helped me out in this game. I think I go check out Amazon’s new game and maybe also try out FF4. Four years here is enough.

You mean you never bothered to use JC to prospect the ore you mined for gems?

Gems come from Jewelcrafting’s prospect since the proffesion was introduced. Mining is to get supplies to support JC and BS.

So in short the ore gets farmed by Mining and JC prospects gems from that ore.

You have a spell called prospect if you take jewelcrafting, you cast that on the ore in your bags. Or when you get mass prospect it does it to a whole stack.

If you look at your professions tab, for jewelcrafting, you should see that red icon in my post above, when you click it, then click on the stack of ghost iron ore, you prospect five pieces of the ore (destroying it in the process) and get a random gem or two or whatever from it. Higher rarity ores (e.g., trillium) yield better gems.

There is also often a mass prospecting spell that appears in your jewelcrafting abilities (once you learn it from the JC trainer) that allow you to prospect 20 ore at a time instead of five, plus you don’t have to click the ore stack, just using the mass prospect ability.

LOL it worked. Never saw prospecting use in any article I could find. Thanks a ton people lucky I Have a ton of ore from mining. One question tho. Why did I waste 2 hrs looking for the fancy pickaxe when the one I got was mining ghost are with no issues???

You needed that pickaxe back in the day but the requirement was removed as time went on.
EDIT: Nope I confused this, it was never necessary, the tooltip says it helps you find gems but it’s a lie lol.

LoL ya nothing changed when I got the new fancy pick. It was the prospecting I did not know about.
