Lantency issues in arena

Anyone experiencing high ping and stop move in some or most of their arena games? Any way to solve the issue? It also happens in bg, skirmish and rated from time to time.

Sounds like an internet issue on your part. I’ve had no problems.

First- What kind of connection are you using? Wifi? Ethernet? Powerline adapter or wifi extender? The easiest solution to any latency issue is to simply switch to ethernet, or powerline adapter if you have it (and know the intricacies of using it) and can’t connect by ethernet cord. Ditch the wifi extender if you’re using one.

If that doesn’t work or you can’t use ethernet and don’t want to set up a powerline adapter,

  1. Ping your router to check your connection to your router. Google “how to ping router”.

  2. If you’re getting consistent pings with no packet drop at 1-30 ms, it’s not the issue, in which case you need to ping the location of the WoW server you’re connecting to. Go to pingtest or metertest or a similar website, and ping the location of where the server you’re on is set up.

  3. If you ARE getting packet drop, that’s a whole different animal, and there’s a thousand different things that can cause it. Google “how to prevent packet loss” and you will inform yourself on a pretty important, if typically unknown, problem with internet. There’s a range of solutions that range from simply power cycling your modem+router+PC (in that order, google “power cycle pc” for the correct sequence and don’t forget your laptop battery if you have a laptop) all the way to more complex things that you’ll have to call your internet service provider to do, like check the electrical connection of your modem.

More generally, Wifi works better when there is as little distance/material between the router and PC, and when there are fewer devices connected to it. Disconnect your phone/tablet/smart TV and move it closer to your PC. Change the password every now and then (you’d be surprised at how easily an enterprising person can connect to it by bypassing security protocols). If you’re using a wifi adapter for a motherboard that doesn’t have one built in, google some reviews for it and buy a different one if you suspect it’s the issue.

Nope i play other online games and it only happens in wow during arena or pvp instances.

About the past 3-4 days depending on server and time there has been some issues for me. This is not my internet I have confirmed at times this happens with guildies, partners and trade chat. Various instanced things have randomly spiked as well and in an instance is the only time you can see this “lag” on the world ms meter the rest is like phantom delay and extremely annoying. Comes and goes but I figure there working on something somewhere.

Been happening to me too as well as my arena partners. It feels pretty random, definitely not an internet issue

Yes, its so frustrating.

check windows firewall and any security software you use and make sure they arent affecting any network services for wow or battlenet

In quite sure its server side but ok will try thanks.
