Okay before everyone freaks out, this is simply from a strategic standpoint. I work 3rd shift, and come home and my best time to que is 7-10 AM EST. The only people in my games for solo shuffle are from the Vindication battlegroup. AKA Ragnaros, Barthilas, etc. How am I supposed to communicate with my team if they don’t speak the same language? how is it fair that we are both in rated pvp and placed together? Would it really break the game if we just region locked to prevent these barriers from harming competitive play?
stop working night shift its bad for your health
Doesn’t really change the fact that this is a real problem. For tens of thousands of players.
Tbh I find ragnaros players more often make calls or communicate than players from NA servers and they do it in english too
I appreciate positive feedback. This has not been my experience, nor has it been for my friends.
Yeah I get it man, I’ve seen it go the other way too
I believe it, and I appreciate the situation these regions are in, along with blizzard. I just feel like the vast majority has either failed keys, struggled in arena, etc simply due to the fact that there is such a strong language barrier and no easy way to communicate.
Couple weeks ago I was leveling an alt in dungeons and got in a group with 4 Rag players. 3 of them were in a guild and the 4th was the odd man out. They started trolling each other in Spanish and I was just letting them go at it, just participating in the dungeon.
So the odd man Ragnaros was calling the tank garbage and they were retaliating, and eventually voted to kick him. The vote got declined before I even clicked yes or no, meaning that one of the guildies said no. Next thing I know I’m kicked from the group, meaning they obviously thought I was the one that vetoed the kick.
My initial thought was “ugh, Ragnaros” but idk, English speakers would definitely do something like that too. I understand Spanish when I see it but there was no point in participating in that or whispering them asking “why” so I just reported the ones that were fighting in chat.
I hear ya, again my initial point has nothing to do with the regions themselves, its just the fact that we cant communicate.
That isn’t a fact at all.
you can communicate you just have to speak to them in Spanish.
If you don’t know how check out this website to learn
https://www.rosettastone.com/
Your lack of rating isn’t caused by comms. I’ve disabled chat.
Also literally just google translate…
I’m surprised you’re not playing with the oceanic folks and they’re terrible ping at that time. Its prime Aussie time 7-10 est.
That’s an oce server. Not South America.
7-10 am est is mostly similar times (morning/day) in all of South America.
Also, lots of English speakers have chat disabled or don’t chat anyway.
And “warr” “priest” “dk” “dh” “hunter” are pretty universal in this game as is.
Google translate the important words you want into Portugese or whatever local for those realms is. make some macros. Dunno sounds rough.
I imagine class shortcuts must be understood more or less universally with a roman alphabet? Rog / Pri / Dru / War / Pal / etc. ?
I would ignore the language barrier and assume it’s bad luck with people ignoring chat and just keep going.
You can get all the official Spanish names for each class/spec from Wowhead

I think if you’re like “hey let’s kill the viajero del viento” people will know what you mean, although if the character is a girl you might have to say viajera del viento, unless Spanish-speaking players know what WW means, in which case you could just say that
Let’s look it from a queue times point of view, q times for DPS are like what? 15-25 minutes at least? Now take let’s say 1/3 of the pvp population, how long would the q times then?
seniority sucks if you don’t have it lol
Here is how, you find two people who speak your language and queue 3s.
this is just a dog whistle to hate on ragnaros players.
It’s the same thing with a little bit more pizzaz…
