Why is it that after 18 years of living with these other races, we still cannot understand their language? When I see a Orc wandering around, we cannot understand each other. You would think that after 18 years, we would have some knowledge of the language spoken by other races.
Fair. Although I have been surrounded by people that speak Spanish for nearly 2 decades and I still can’t understand it.
I’m a Texan with only a basic working knowledge of Spanish (despite minoring in it in college, it’s all gone now) so I would say it’s definitely possible.
That is for in-game mechanics only, for the players. NPC’s have no problem understanding the opposite faction. Everyone speaks common, the other languages are just for flavor.
Why is it that after 18 years we still don’t have an in-game translator to make it easier to group up with Ragnaros players?
Several games I have played you can learn other languages. In EQ you could sit in a party with someone of a different race and if they choose to speak their native language in chat, you would get skill ups in that language.
edited to add: You could also get skill ups from mobs and npcs speaking their native language.
Who even cares about that?
I think we should have at least an in-game reference for common gaming terms. I can read and write a little spanish, but I have no idea how to explain a mechanic.
And how is it that when a human died and was reanimated as forsaken, they are now speaking orcish and can no longer understand the language they were born speaking?
This is why I keep stacks of potion of tongues on me. It’s been a hell of a time for my NB running into new Night Elves who don’t realize I’m not one of them. It’s just funny that it’s happened twice.
That’s not going to get you far if the person behind the account speaks Portuguese.
I would like a minigame of us learning another races language. I think that would be neat for Rp.
Let me ask you this, how many languages do you speak in RL? If the answer is one, well there you go.
It’s a pain in the rear, but we had a pug where throwing Google Translate at each other was the only option.
That actually would be very convenient. Why doesn’t it auto-translate?
I just want to know what genius decided that I wanted to raid with the opposite faction…sounds to me like their user base is declining so bad they are trying to keep the money train going.
you play with Ragnaros players and Quel Thalas? I thought they just didn’t get invited to stuff…
True, but they speak to each other in lore and cutscenes all the time.
I run into them in the world and I guess I am so shocked by their awesomeness that I forget the language.
The dungeon journal/raid journal actually will be translated into the client language of other players when you link it in chat.
