Anyone else all of a sudden having a problem last couple of days where whenever I click on a crafting icon the screen freezes for 5 seconds or so and then the profession box finally appears?

Hey Violetta,
Do you happen to have TSM? We have seen similar reports of this causing profession delays. I'd suggest disabling it and then doing a full UI reset.

Have the same issues on multiple characters, all the professions freeze for a period of time. Even reopening the same profession window is the same issue. Same as well starting recently with the past week.
Character selection is freezing as well.
I've disabled all addons, repaired via battle.net client, deleted the cache folder in ProgramData, uninstalled Auctionator and Elvui, and the same issue after trying each of the steps.
WoW is installed on a SSD as well.

This is also happening to me, since the reset Tuesday of this week. 0 addons loaded and it still happens full repair cache folder deleted. Nothing seems to fix the delay.

I do not use TSM, nor have I ever downloaded it.
Each time I open my tradeskill options/windows, my whole computer freezes for several seconds. Whether I have addons turned on and UI reset or not. It has been happening since the reset and appears to be getting worse. Half the time, it's so bad and goes on for so long, I think I am about to dc.

This is happening to me as well and it started a while ago. One thing I do notice is that while the game does freeze for a few seconds, I can still move my cursor around.

Followed this and it worked, didn't want to lose my Interface so singled out the issue related to the Cache Folder.
So only kept the Cache folder as CacheOld and the new folder WoW creates doesn't cause the profession window to freeze now.
Thanks, I have this issue too.
I tried this, the professions didn't lag on 1st character I opened them on, but then switched servers, and the lag on professions started again.
I use no addons either.
-edit I tried renaming all 3 folders again same time, then went back into game. Same problem. Lag on professions on second character and future characters. Not sure on crashes.
I also tried the extra step, and it didn't find the store stuff.

Having this same issue, opening Professions freezes the whole game for about a second.
I have no addons running.

Was only a temp fix it seems for me, exact issue has come back now.
Hey all,
Thank you all for the updates. In addition to resetting the World of Warcraft UI files we do have some more steps to try that could help stop this from happening when opening the profession Window.
• Let's set the Blizzard App to close when a game is running.
1) On the Blizzard App click on the big Blizzard icon in the upper left corner.
2) Then click on Settings from the dropdown menu that opens up.
3) In the General preference tab, under the When I launch a game field, select Exit battle.net completely.
4) Click on done and launch World of Warcraft
• Run the computer in a selective startup mode.
• Please run a full scan of the computer with an security program.
• I have seen some security programs cause this to happen before. Temporarily disable any security program.

1. Changed the Blizzard App to close while game is running, reopened WoW.
- Same issue with any profession where it freezes the entire game for a few seconds.
2. Set computer to selective startup mode and restarted.
- Same issue with professions still freezing WoW
3. Did full scan of PC with W10 Windows Defender
4. Disabled Windows Real Time Protection
- This is with selective startup mode as well and professions still freezing
Even with addons disabled it will freeze WoW as well with all this done.

Still same issue going on.

Yeap. Same issues continue.
I can elaborate other issues that appear to be similar problem.
1. I press Professions tab, and screen freezes then it opens.
2. I swap Servers, the characters list and top character appears, then screen freezes for 4 seconds or so, then unfreezes and I can select a character.
3. When I do a dungeon, thru LFD, with a premade group or without, The Load screen bar fills up, but I am almost always last to load in compared to other gamers with similar hardware. I have played with streamers, and in the VoDs I can see my character will load in and appear, and my character's group icon highlights as if I loaded in, then my character disappears, and the icon goes grey again as if I didn't load in. Then on my side, I finally load in. This can be like 15 seconds or so, and I miss pulls.
4. 2 times I've crashed while trying to load into a LFD, and 1 time for LFR, and I got some error message about WoW voice proxy and firewall or something.
For all these issues when I look at my Performance tab in Task Manager, nothing spikes during the freeze. But after the freeze there's a large network spike. I don't see any Background Process's using up any additional resources during the freeze or moving up higher on the list or anything..
I have an SSD and my cpu is only at 32% usage or something when I play and watch a stream at same time. My video card is 1080 and has no signs of being taxed either, is around 20%.
For my network I have a ethernet cable going into a wireless network extender. It's software is up to date, the router is up to date, and the cable company's modem is up to date. I don't lose internet connection to streams I'm watching when the WoW spike occurs.
If I turn off all other network using apps, the problems still exist.
The problem only started occurring with BfA, I really didn't do many dungeons or work on professions or play much so not sure if it was day 1 or a patch after. But the crashes with Voice Proxy were day 1 that it launched.
Hope this helps.
I've had the same problem. Still going on since last roll around.
Also, there is another post i saw about the character select screen lag.
I have that problem too.
The game is still playable with no lag.

Hey, this works!
Completely exit World of Warcraft.
Uninstall any addon managers to make sure they don't re-add your removed addons.
In the Blizzard Battle.net desktop application, click Options and select Show in Explorer (Windows®) or Reveal in Finder (Mac®).
Open the World of Warcraft® folder.
Rename the Cache, Interface, and WTF folders to CacheOld, InterfaceOld, and WTFOld.
Re-launch World of Warcraft so the changes can take effect.

I did what Badpeanuts suggested above, except I rebooted after deleting those folders.
It worked. Then 24 hours later I was in the exact same laggy spot. Realms freeze when I change them, professions lag for a few seconds when I open them.
This problem isn't client side. :(
