Considering that almost every thread on the forum is about lag, you would think Blizzard would actually address the issue instead of passing the buck to the ISP’s. I have google fiber in Austin, and the problem seemed to be fixed for a few days. But now it is back AGAIN. I am having to pay for a VPN and use that because you guys are refusing to address the issue.
I am having 0 issues with other games and internet activities. It is ONLY world of warcraft. Please address and fix this issue for the sake of all of our sanities (IRL).
I believe google fiber in your area has been having issues for a little while. There was a mini-containment thread I don’t see it at the moment though - maybe it was fixed and has recurred.
If a VPN solves your problem, that is in itself basically proof that the issue is with your ISP. All a VPN does is cause your traffic to take a different route to reach blizzard - it changes nothing about blizzard’s servers. They don’t own the internet and they don’t control the route your ISP sends your traffic along. Given the quarantine and increased traffic generally, there are a lot more issues with backbone hops dropping packets. I would complain to your ISP and see what they say.
Ok, good to know. I guess I was lashing out at the wrong party. This is pretty frustrating. I contacted my ISP and showed them the winMTR data, but I guess nothing has been done.
