I’m curious how much lag Canadian players have with the NA servers being located in only LA or Chicago. Looking for datas.
Southwest BC, none regularly. On gigabit fibre though.
If I play on west servers from east coast I think the worse I had was 90ms, still pretty playable.
Currently the game is showing me as 30ms home / 29 ms world; of course “Canada” is a rather large and varied place, so your mileage (kmage?) may vary.
Major cities have pretty insanely fast connections, so it’s more a function of how urban/rural you are than where you are on the continent. That’s why they ended up going down from four to two datacenters, because having more or less geographical spread didn’t really impact ping times.
i am west coast Canada and play on an east coast server and get around 50 home and world ms.
edit: checked a character on a west coast server and i have the same 50 home ms but my world ms drops to 22, which is quite an improvement.
Most lag is caused because syrup doesnt run as smoothly in colder temperatures
newfoundland canada playing on east coast servers. fibe internet. usually 50-60ms sometimes 70ms for home/world.
Atlantic Canada, my server is based in Chicago and I get like 30ms with fibre, when grouping with west coast like 60-70
No issues with lag
I’m in Ontario, my worst server I get about a 50 ping, my regular server like a 20 ping. I don’t really have any lag issues as long as I don’t play with OCE realms
I like what you did there.
Us servers I get around 30 ms/40ms
On my EU account I get around 80-100ms.
Edit: Playing from Quebec
Sounds like you’re on Rogers if you’re having internet trouble.
Don’t worry, they have automated support that doesn’t help at all. And if you continue to request the service you’re paying for, they’ll send someone who speaks neither English nor French to your house to “fix” it.
Also located in British Columbia, But in the Southern Interior. Average latency for me in-game on the server I play (Area 52) is around 45-50ms all the time.
My ISP is Telus and I’m on their unlimited usage PureFibre internet. You may view my Speedtest results for my connection by Clicking Here! As you can see, I got an amazing connection!
Also on Telus, and I’ve seen speeds as high as 3gb and single digit latency. I’ll never go back to Shaw.
I’ll never go back to Shaw / Rogers either. I had used them as Telus wasn’t available at one location where I lived in the past. They ended up throttling my connection speed at peak times when I played World of Warcraft.
Ended up with a lot of disconnections from the game server. I did a speed test on their website and it claimed my connection speeds were not even close to what I was paying for monthly.
I contacted their Customer Support and they straight up admitted to throttling my connection in the evening hours because apparently the node I was on was overwhelmed with traffic. Don’t know why they never added new nodes in my area back then to help handle the traffic.
So switched to Telus when I moved and not a single issue with them. I even contacted the CRTC about what Shaw / Rogers did to me back then. Unsure what the outcome of that was however.
At my old place the phone equipment in the building was from the 1940s. Telus still managed to get 10mb DSL through it. This was back in the days when 25mb was top speed. Right now I can see the phone exchange from my house so I get insane performance.
