I know she was not meant to be tanked like this but this seems to be a bug. When tanking her at range she will sometimes swap to a seemingly random target(maybe closest to her?) and Frostbolt them. I saw in another thread that this may be related to having pets attack her but we haven’t tested that ourselves. Here is a video if that is helpful.

As I understand it, Lady Deathwhisper is only supposed to cast Frostbolt on her main target. Typically, this would be interrupted, but there is a strategy that revolves around not interrupting, so she only casts Frostbolt and is much less likely to apply her threat reduction ability to the tank. With this strategy, a single tank can hold her the entire time in phase 2 rather than needing to do tank swaps on an untauntable boss.
However, she seems to sometimes cast Frostbolt on a target that is not her primary target, which will surely kill them in a single hit. This happened to me on two consecutive attempts last night, and there is a thread in general discussion about other players experiencing this bug (?).

You can see in both logs her casting Frostbolt on targets that couldn’t possibly have threat, like Magma Totem VII more than 6 minutes into the fight. Is this intentional? Can this be looked into? It seems to not be working as intended.

You need the frost resistance tank to stand in/around melee range.
This strategy was not intended in the first place so the behaviors around it are not supported.
If you have your frost resistance tank stand in melee range around max melee range she will not randomly frost bolt other people.
She will sometimes apply a stack or three of her debuff to the tank but they will usually wear off if you aren’t interrupting so the strategy can still work with just 1 tank.
Example: classic.warcraftlogs dot com/reports/R7wfh3n1YNyJ4XkC#fight=2&type=deaths frost resistance 1 tank, tank is in melee range and gets up to 3 stacks sometimes but they fall off. No one eats random frostbolts.
This just has to do with the person tanking her not being in melee range causing unaccounted for behaviors. She will not do this during normal strategies or if her tank is in melee range.
